Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Hunter is
home from active duty as a navy seal.
After his last mission and his missing team member, his commanding
officers what him to be in top form. He
has been ordered to seek medical help and get a psych evaluation.
Calli
O’Conner is the doctor he is sent to. He
is immediately attracted to her. However
he doesn’t want to be there. He hopes
she will sign off on his paper work. She
refuses.
Calli has
her own issues. The muse of epic poetry
shares her body. Her group of “sisters”
that also house muses are here working to reopen the muse theater. The Order of
Titans, however, had other plans. Their
ultimate goal is to stop the muses by taking down their leader, Calli. Hunter discovers he has the birthmark and a
new ability. He is freaked out at first
until he learns what is really going on.
He steps into the role of guardian wholeheartedly. Both Calli and Hunter grow closer but they
need to fight their own demons. Things
get dangerous as the Order of Titans step up their game and make things
personal.
This is the
first book I’ve read in this series. I
instantly liked the characters. Hunter,
the navy seal, was believable with his behavior and personality. Calli was a bit of a tough nut to crack. The author kept her guarded for a while. She definitely needed to loosen up.
The
storyline was origin. I’ve never read
anything like it. Muses that share
women’s bodies with guardians appointed to each muse. I like reading something new and this story
provided that. The characters were
likeable and fun to be included with as you read the story. It was a fast paced and suspenseful
story. There was kidnapping, murder,
attempted murder, lies and surfing. The
setting with access to the beach also added to the overall likeability of the
story for me. Several elements were on
point and the author created a great story as part of an interesting
series. I am excited to read more. I give this story between Calli and Hunter a
4 out of 5.
