Reveal by Elle Brooks : Spotlight, Teasers, Excerpt, Author Interview & 2 Giveaways

I used to believe in destiny.

I was six years old when I first took to the stage, and I’ve danced every day since. It’s the biggest part of who I am. The fuel that drives me forward.

My oxygen...
My life...
My soul.

The stars were perfectly aligned, and my fairy tale had slowly begun to play out like a beautifully scripted passage from a romance novel. I was all set to live my happily ever after…

Until I wasn’t.

If dancing was my heart, Daniel was the blood that kept it beating. I was content with supporting him as he worked towards his music dreams, but then he disappeared, leaving me scared, alone and suffocating under the crushing weight of his debts.

It’s said that opportunity often comes disguised as misfortune.

When one door closes, another one opens. But I wasn’t prepared for it to belong to Reveal, one of New York City’s most exclusive Burlesque Clubs.

It feels as though the universe is conspiring against me until fate thrusts two very different men into the equation. And what they have in common, no one could have predicted.

Destiny may have delivered them both, but who stays is my choice.

Excerpt from REVEAL
I don't check the peephole. I always check it—but this time I don’t.
It’s funny how that happens.
The first time you break tradition you think it’s fine,
what bad could possibly come of it?
That’s when the shit hits the fan.
It’s like a swift kick to the stomach from the universe itself.
A not-so-subtle reminder of why you always check the peephole
before opening the door.

There’s a solid reason behind it,
and that’s what awaits me on the other side
as I fling the door open in a single reckless act.

I’m expecting Annie to be standing in front of me.

She dropped me off moments ago;

she must have forgotten something.

Only it’s not Annie.
My heart sinks in my chest, and my greeting dies on my lips,
the words suspended and unspoken.
Mr. Carter smiles a sinister smile,
sidestepping through the door and into my apartment.
“You have something for me.”

Elle Brooks is a little neurotic; she functions on a tiny amount of sleep and a huge amount of caffeine. Elle loves green skittles and has an irrational fear of stormy weather. When she's not writing about super hot dreamy leading men, you can generally find her googling them... all in the name of research of course. She can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a good book or a bottle of bubbles. Oh, and she also love to write.

Elle is the author of the Promises Series including Promises Hurt, Forgotten Promises and Empty Promises.

Book #1 is Promises Hurt released in August 2014.
Book #2 is Forgotten Promises released November 2014.
Book #3 is Empty Promises released February 2015

*Empty Promises is a prequel novella and can be read before or after the other books in the series. It can also be read as a standalone.

Hi Elle,
Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your new book, Reveal and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.

So first off, Reveal Questions...

In your own words, what is Reveal about?

Reveal is the story of Robyn, a dancer in her twenties that’s been dealt a rough hand, when her boyfriend leaves her and skips town, saddling her with his debts. The book is set in a burlesque club called Reveal, where Robyn takes a job to pay off loan sharks that are giving her a hard time. I can’t really say more than that without giving too much away. Of curse it’s a contemporary romance, so there's lots of hot and sexy scenes, but you’ll need to read it to find out more. J

How did you come up with the title of the book and can you tell us its significance?

I knew the story I wanted to write and the name was never a problem to come up with. It fit perfectly as it has a duel meaning, the burlesque club where the story is set is called Reveal, but there are also some big reveal moments within the book.

Is Reveal a standalone book or will it be part of a series?

It’s a standalone, although now that I’ve finished it, I feel like maybe one of the characters deserves a different ending.  I may write a spin off novel to ease my conscience!

What genre would you say Reveal is and what sets your book apart for fans of the genre?

It falls nicely into contemporary romance, but is laced with suspense, so it’s not your typical boy meets girl book.

What are some of the elements of the world you created?

Wow, that’s a really good question, and awkward! Well, I guess the setting of the book is in an upmarket burlesque club in New York City.
There’s the gritty reality of what its like to owe people money, and have to do things you never saw yourself doing, just to get by and survive.
There's the element of not everyone being who you think they are.
There’s love and hate, and every emotion in-between.

If you had to pick one thing, what is your favorite thing about the world you’ve created?

Callum Speight! Boy do I wish he wasn’t just a figment of my imagination. ;)

What was your favorite scene to write for either your hero or heroine in Reveal?

There’s a pretty hot shower scene that involves Callum. I text my husband at work and asked him to describe some, um, how should I say this… feelings?! The messages he sent back were pretty hilarious, I don’t think he was expecting to have to text such intimate things, while sitting in an office full of men. Haha :D

What was the hardest scene to write?

The very last scene before the epilogue. There is so much going on and it involves almost all the characters, it was hard to figure out the dialogue and write it in such a way that wasn’t confusing to the reader. I think I nailed it though. Maybe. Hopefully. Oh God, I'm panicking now.

What's your favorite line or quote from Reveal?

Ooh, there are lots! I have favorites that are sexy, some funny and some deep. I think maybe this one stands out as one of my favorites from the top of my head that doesn’t give anything away. It’s all about the suspense after all. I hate letting anything slip. J
“I already know I want her. Now I have to convince her that she wants me, and if playing the friend card is what’s needed to improve my hand, I’ll happily bluff until she folds.”

Lastly, What 5 things do fans not know about you and 5 they don't know about the book?

Me…
1, I'm a vegetarian
2, Not much in this life can scare me quite as much as a cow! Seriously, they freak me out. Hate them. *Shudders
3, I’m probably one of the only heterosexual females on the planet that just doesn’t get the fascination with David Gandy. Nope, he just doesn’t float my boat.
4, I am OBSESSED with keeping things on even numbers. I have to have everything set on an even number in my home, or it drives me insane.
5, I'm the most competitive person you’ll ever meet, and I have to work really hard at tempering that part of my personality. You know those mom’s that let their kids win at games, yeah that’s not me!

Reveal…
1, The book was written on a whim, I was supposed to be starting a different novel, but Robyn’s character wouldn’t leave my mind, so I shelved what I was working on and wrote Reveal.
2, I still don’t know if I'm team Callum or Cole
3, Besides Reveal, all the places named in the book are actual places, bars, and restaurants in New York City.
4, The ending was never meant to be how it finished up. I wanted to kill everyone off. I think I was having an off day.
5, Until the editing process, there was not one instance in the book where the characters said “I Love You” to one another. I must be getting cynical in my old age!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking time to answer some questions. Congratulations on the new book and I can't wait for everyone to read it! – Toot’s
