Blue Lines is Toni Aleo's newest addition to her Nashville Assassins series about a local hockey team and it's players. This is the story of Erik. He's the resident bad boy. He is known for his playboy ways. He has a revolving door of women and is on the front page of every celebrity rag with all the details. One night he makes a brilliant decision to hit on a family friend, Piper. She's cute enough and ever since he met her, he's had a hankering for her and tonight she's his.
Piper can't believe her eyes. The sexy as sin Hockey player Erik is hitting on her. She decides to take the bull by the horns and see where this can lead. Piper brings him to her apartment and they have a wild night of soul searing sex but in the morning, Erik leaves and then sends her a text....to dump her!!
Erik thought he had it all figured out. Kept the chicks revolving through the doors to keep the memories of Piper at bay. He never expected to feel what he felt for her after one night and that's why he had to end it. He loves his rock star lifestyle and no one is going to change that! Well, that was his thought until Piper shows up on his door step, six months later, to let him that he left her a gift, on that fateful night and the test showed 2 blue lines.
I gotta say, I love me some Toni Aleo. She is, by far, one of the sweetest authors' I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I met her this summer in Vegas and she is a rock star in her own right. Can't gush enough!!!! I also love her assassins series with a passion but totally gotta say, I didn't love Erik. Every time that man opened his mouth, I wanted to slap the "S" out of him. Yes, he redeemed himself in the end like any good romantic hero but it was so hard getting past all the crap he spewed in the book and how he freakin' treated Piper that.......just..... UUUGGGGGG! I also felt for Piper but I also kinda wanted to scream at her to not be such a doormat!
With all my angst aside, I did love seeing all the past characters and getting updates on them. I loved how Erik and Piper transformed at the end of the book into great romance leads and their little bundle is freakin' adorable but by far my favorite scene is at the end when he takes the baby from her arms and says "Weren't you almost done with your book?" She smiled as she nodded "Yeah." "Okay, well, you go read, or start a bath or something. You're on break while Daddy is home," *Sigh, don't I wish all men said this?*
All in all, if you like sports romances, give the Assassins a try.
