Review: Never Say Never (Never Knights Series Book 1) by Kailin Gow

Book Blurb

What girl wouldn't want to be surrounded by the sexy guys from the hottest teen rock sensation in the country? 18-year-old Never "Neve" Knight, not only is surrounded by the hottest boys to hit the music charts, but she is the band's lead singer. As the band's lead singer and manager, Never formed and shaped the band to where it is today, a band on the rise and on the brink of being signed by a label. As one of the guys, she knew each of the band members since they were all snot-nose ten-year-olds. While her boys were the cutest guys and they would protect her like knights, she couldn't date any one of them and ruin the chance at being signed with the record label of her dreams. That changes when one of the band members suddenly drops out of the band, and in walks Danny Blue, with his dreamy blue eyes, hot body, and British accent. Suddenly, Never's solid world has turned to mush, and her rule for not dating one of her band members is seriously challenged. Can she keep her head straight and get her band signed with a label without losing her heart? Can Never change her tune of saying "never to dating a band member" to "never say never"?

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Neve Knight and her band are trying to get a record deal.  They have been working hard and she wants to get it on their own merit not her father’s fame.  Unfortunately they aren’t there yet when their guitarist gets hurt.  They need a new one and fast.  Danny Blue is a TA at Neve’s university.  In fact he is one of her teachers.  She is surprised to see him at auditions.  She instantly formed a crush on him when she first saw him in class.  Now that he becomes a member of the band, he is off limits.  She never gets involved with members of the band.
She breaks her biggest rule when Danny shows his attraction for her.  They begin a whirlwind physical relationship.  They have to keep it a secret though.  Things are going well with the band.  They are getting more gigs and moving toward that record deal they have always wanted.  Then things fall apart.  Kyle and Luc reveal their real feelings and cause tension in the band.  The secret is found out and Neve doesn’t know what to do to control the damage done.
I liked this book.  The music world is a fascinating one.  I find Neve’s journey for a record deal and interesting climb.  She has several obstacles in her way.  Her father and his stardom being two.  I love the fact she wants to make it on her own.  That is very admirable.  She is trying to do it all anonymously.  The author has her fighting for what she wants.
She also questions her rules and what she will sacrifice for her dreams.  The author also adds more drama with how Kyle and Luc feel about her.  She has to let them down gently.  Of course nothing in her personal life goes well but her music life is going great.

The ending is shocking in the sense that I didn’t see the total reaction coming.  It definitely sets the stage for the next book.  What is going to happen to the band?  It was a great read.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
