Book Blurb

HERO AND PROTECTOR
Former bounty hunter, expert gunslinger, and the toughest sheriff Dodge City has ever known, Truman Wade is a real man from the tip of his black Stetson right down to his spurs and leather boots. He’s never met his match in a gunfight, but he’s never met a gorgeous, gutsy woman from the twenty-first century either…

TORN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
Newly single after a rocky breakup with her self-absorbed fiancĂ©, newspaper columnist Jessica Delaney crashes her car in a lightning storm and soon finds herself dodging bullets in the Wild West. Before the night is out, she’s tossed in jail for a murder she didn’t commit, and if things don’t seem complicated enough, the impossibly handsome sheriff in charge of her arrest has danger written all over him - and a sexy swagger to die for. Jessica knows she needs to get home, but when Sheriff Wade’s enticing touch sets her passions on fire, she begins to wonder if fate has other plans for her, and soon she must choose between the life she longs for in the future… and the greatest love she’s ever known.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

A year after losing her brother, Jessica is questioning whether she should move back to Dodge.  On the way home to visit her parents her life changes again.  She loses control of her car in the rain and wakes up in the past.  She time-travels to the old west where she earns a reputation for killing a gunslinger.  The people call her June bug Jess.  She meets Sheriff Truman Wade, pretty soon after arriving.  It takes her a while to believe that time traveling is possible in her world.  The author creates a great storyline around Jessica’s arrival in the old west.  Everyone believes her to be June bug Jess who has killed before and she must persuade the sheriff she isn’t this person.  It is frustrating for her.  However, she is provided with an ally in the fellow time traveler and Lawyer.  Her shock is obvious when she learns she is not the only one.

Jessica has to adapt and the reader gets to watch as it happens.  Her feelings for Sheriff Wade are pretty instant.  She keeps thinking he is familiar which she learns later why.  Sheriff Wade doesn’t know what to think about her at first.  Once she starts growing on him, his guilt concerning his past gets in the way.  The reader watches as his barriers fall and Jessica becomes his focus.  He must keep her safe as the dead man’s gang comes after her.  He has his work cut out for him as she acts nothing like the women he knows.  He is shocked at her strength and brazen attitude.  It is a great combination considering he is the quiet type.  I love the pairing of the two.  It was a great story with a bit of time travel and romance.  Throwing in a murderous old west gang and a mystery murderer, the story gets exciting.  I’m not surprised when the original villain shows their face.  The final fight isn’t what I expected.  It was a bit unreal to me.  Yes, I know what you are thinking, there is time travel but after you read it you will see what I mean.  It is a good read and I liked the story as a whole.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
