Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Nikki moves
with her mom and brother, Nathan, to Montana.
Her mother needed to leave behind the memories of being attacked by her
ex-husband. They are able to stay in a
beautiful cabin on the lake. Nathan is disappointed
to leave his girlfriend behind but is happy to meet a hot girl the first day in
their new town.
Nikki and
Nathan are warned by some locals that bad things happen at night. They also discover a body of a girl by their
house. The local sheriff seems to have
an interest in their mom. Nikki is a bit
hesitant about everything. Plus, she
feels like she is being watched.
A new friend
named Duncan joins the siblings and helps to catch whoever is watching
Nikki. What they find is shocking to
them. The truth is not what they would
expect. Ethan is a boy in town that
takes an interest in Nikki. He chases
after her, scaring her. Secrets surround
him and when Nikki finds out why he is drawn to her, she can’t believe it. It is so unbelievable. Nikki, Nathan and Duncan have stepped into a
crazy world of vampires.
I wasn’t
sure if I would like this book. Nikki
was kind of bratty in the beginning. It
didn’t last long. I got into the book as
the author laid out the story. The
opening scene is shocking, and the move is understandable. It seemed that they moved to a better
place. Unfortunately, that’s not the
case. The story unfolds introducing the
sheriff and residents of the new town.
Their mom is an interest for the sheriff and he starts dating her. The reader knows what he is. You don’t trust him after his second
date. I liked Duncan. He is sweet, and he is good to Nikki. Then Ethan enters the picture. He is the ultimate bad boy and very
dark. He is pretty scary at first. By the end I’m not quite sure about him. The ending leaves you hanging a bit. So, it will be interesting to see what
happens next. I have no idea where the
author is going to take it. I was left
wondering. I was a good read. I give it a 4 out of 5.
