Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Kira loves
Scotland. She takes the trip of her
dreams when she is nineteen. Her tour
bus stops at the ruins of Castle Wrath.
She begs to stay a couple of hours more.
When her request is granted she has no idea how it will change her
life. She comes face to face with a
Scottish warrior chieftain. She can’t
believe her eyes then he disappears. She
leaves Scotland feeling as if she is missing something.
As the years
pass, her Scottish warrior continues to visit her in her dreams. She has since figured out who he must
be. Aidan is the chieftain at the Castle
Wrath and he has become obsessed with the woman he sees in his dreams. He knows she is destined to be his wife if
she is real.
Kira ends up
back in Scotland on an assignment for her job.
She makes her way to Castle Wrath.
She half expects to have the same experience she did years before,
hoping to see Aidan again. It was a long
shot but the disappointment is there anyway.
However, her
life is about to change. She sits
herself on a part of the ruins to eat her lunch and falls into the past. Aidan’s cousin Tavis comes to her
rescue. He takes her immediately to
Aidan. Aidan is surprised to see her but
extremely happy. Kira is shocked to be
there in the first place.
Aidan has
trouble at first believing Kira’s story.
Yet things start pointing to the truth.
Kira fears being returned home before she is ready. She believes she has been sent to Aidan to
save him. She is sure of it when his
other cousin becomes the biggest threat.
I love
time-traveling stories especially when the woman travels back to the past. This was a classic example. The shocking realization that it happened,
and the assimilation into the time period without changing the past or the
future were definitely present in the storyline.
It was fun
to read as Kira tip-toed around Aidan’s castle trying to blend into the way of
life. Of course, Kira has a hard time
suppressing her attitude toward those lacking in modern knowledge. Her reactions are comical. She visually shutters a couple of times that
I could practically see.
I liked the
contrast between the past and the present.
Aidan’s thoughts were fascinating.
His views, through his experiences, were realistic and the author gave
the life Aidan had an authentic touch.
It was full of intrigue, spies and suspense. It was definitely a fun read. I give it a 4 out of 5.
