An alpha wolf fighting a powerful curse...
The werewolf prince Etienne is turning into a human. A fierce and loyal pack, Etienne and his family have protected their kingdom with tooth and claw—literally—for hundreds of years. Unfortunately, the spell of a well-meaning witch is slowly stealing the beast from inside him. Only the bite of a cursed werewolf—one who was not born with the beast inside—can save him from losing everything. He has no time for anything that will not lead him to a cure for the curse. Not even the beautiful maiden whose gentle nature soothes his soul even as she tempts him into primal pursuits of an entirely different nature…
A maiden enslaved by her stepfamily, who dares to reach for more...
Loupe lives in terror. Terror of the bloodthirsty stepfamily who treats her like a slave, and terror of the beast trapped inside her. Bitten by a werewolf while dealing with the illegal gains of her stepfamily’s poaching, Loupe’s dreams of a strong husband who would take her away from her servant-like existence are over. A woman who becomes a mindless beast on the night of the full moon has no place in a marriage bed. Not even if that bed belongs to a prince with the manners of royalty and the hungry eyes of a wolf.
Nothing will stand between an alpha wolf and his mate...
A grand ball. The stroke of twelve. A magic “slipper.” All kinds of things can happen when you don’t leave the ball... Before Midnight.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Etienne has
been cursed by a witch. He is losing his
wolf. He has to find a way to stop the
curse before he turns completely human.
Loupe lives with her step-mother and step-sisters. Her step-mother hunts wolves then brings them
back for Loupe to gut and skin. Loupe
hates it but she has no choice. She also
has a secret. She was accidentally
bitten by one of the wolves. She now
turns into one during the full moon.
When her
step-mother is away she sneaks to the lake to bathe. She also cares for the three young wolf cubs
she has hidden there. During one such
trip, she comes face to face with Prince Etienne. He is surprised to find
her. He watches her with the cubs and
his interested is peaked.
However, his
curse is his top worry, plus she is human and he doesn’t want to scare
her. Little do they both know things are
changing fast and someone else is pushing them together. It turns out that they can help each other
and in the end get what they both want.
I like the
idea of this series. The princes are
brought together. There are plans in the
works to save them whether they want it or not.
So Prince Etienne is the first to be helped. I like that Loupe has a good heart and he is
drawn to her. I like the wolf cubs and
the situation. She finds herself as a
result. She is drawn to the prince
herself, but fears what she changes into.
She has no control.
Her
step-family is horrid and make her do such disgusting tasks. They are good villains. They create the dark edge to the story. They
endorse violence and hatred.
I understand
why Loupe is meek and fearful. However,
it was hard to read when she wouldn’t stand up for herself. I hated seeing the treatment she endured and
how downtrodden she was. The ending
battle was a bit more violently descriptive than I expected. I was happy to finally see her fight
back. The cubs reemerge and again cause
some humorous situations. It was a good
ending and I want to read the next book.
I give this a 4 out of 5.
