Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your new book, FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.
So first off, FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking Questions.......
In your own words, what is FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking about?
It is a twist on the typical boy meets girl romance story by focussing on addiction and the impact that this has on both love and lust.
How did you come up with the title of the book and can you tell us its significance?
I chose the word Fix as the title for three reasons, one it can be interrupted as a means of satisfying an addiction, two it is a position from which it is difficult to escape, and thirdly it means to repair or mend. This story can be read through all three meanings.
Sex, Lies and Banking as the sub-title gives a snapshot of what the book is about.
Is FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking a standalone book or will it be part of a series?
I have two more books in planning featuring Patrick Harrington and Alexandra Fisher. I deliberately ended the first book in a way to allow for follow up!
What genre would you say FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking is and what sets your book apart for fans of the genre?
Real-life fuses romantic fiction for contemporary women. I think the allure of knowing this is real-life adds a mysterious dimension given the reader is unsure what is fact and what is fiction.
What are some of the elements of the world you created?
Depravity, debauchery, greed, extravagance, innocence, love, lust and potentially absolution
If you had to pick one thing, what is your favorite thing about the world you’ve created?
The references to Fashion!
What was your favorite scene to write for either your hero or heroine in FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking?
I enjoyed switching between a female and male perspective. I particularly enjoyed writing about the couple shopping in Bergdorf Goodman on a trip to NYC. He thought he was treating her well and she felt like he was controlling. It demonstrates gender perspectives and how a lack of empathy and self-awareness can lead to misunderstandings and arguments.
What was the hardest scene to write?
The ending. I had so many ideas and could have gone in a number of directions!
What's your favorite line or quote from FIX: Sex, Lies and Banking?
The reference to one of Patrick’s conquests having “well upholstered thighs” to describe her chunky legs. It makes me chuckle.
Writing.......
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated and what made you decide to pursue it as a career?
I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. I got to a point in my career where I could take a year out and decided that I needing to be writer if I was to live my dream. It was time to stop talking about and start doing it!
What inspires you to put the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard?
I often play scenarios out in my mind and when I get to a point where I have refined it in my head it is time to commit it to paper (or word doc!)
What are some of the elements in/of your writing process?
I find I have to write every day. Even if it is rubbish. I think it was Jodi Piccoult who said it is easier to edit a page of bad writing than an empty page. I agree. It also builds momentum and allows you to get lost in the flow… that part is my favourite as I feel like I am fulfilling my purpose.
Are you a Plotter or a Panster?
Definitely a plotter!
Have you released anything under a different pen name, and if so, is there any difference between them?
Not yet…
What's next for you?
I am hoping to finish the trilogy (the next two books in this series) and have them published. I also have many ideas for subsequent novels in different genres.
Is there anything you’d like to add or say to your fans?
I write for readers so I am grateful that people pick up my book and hope they enjoy the emotional rollercoaster I have tried to create!

Now I know this is like asking you to choose between your own children, but out of all your amazing characters, who is your favorite and why?
Candice. Alex’s best friend. She is a blend of many of my favourite girlfriends!
Are there any of your stories or characters that hold a special place in your heart?
Joey. He is a rock for Alex and I have a lovely person in my own life that inspired this character. I am very grateful to him.
If the book had to have a theme song, what would it be?

Me –
- I have visited 55 countries
- I have tiny hands
- I like reggae and rap music but I listen to classical music when I write
- I don’t have a middle name
- I am terrible at spelling even though writing is my passion!
The book –
- I wrote the bulk of it sitting in my local coffee shop watching people around me for character quirks
- I took inspiration from people as varied as Charlie Sheen and Katherine Jenkins
- I wrote in a minor character after a women at a party asked me to feature her in the book
- When I started the book it had a different title
- I love to hate Patrick Harrington!
