The Seduction Game

By Emma Shortt

Synopsis: When millionaire bad boy, Will Thornton, tries to buy computer-geek Kate Kelly’s building out from under her, she refuses to sell. Will might be uber rich, and super successful but she won’t be bullied. Trouble is, she didn’t expect Will to look like one of her fantasy heroes, or to make her heart beat a little too fast. She’s prepared to wait him out, but it'll take every ounce of her self-control to win this game.

With millions of dollars on the line, Will is positive he can make Kate sell. He’s played the game better than anybody and charming is his middle name. Problem is, the snarky, geeky, computer-wiz is nothing like he imagined—impossibly cute and a match for him in every way.

The game is on but can two such radically different people come out winners in the game of seduction?

Author Bio

As a kid Emma wanted to be an astronaut, or maybe Captain Janeway. Because she didn't really think her career choices through very well she ended up in an everyday geek job, crunching numbers and sighing over syntax. It seemed a long way from the stars and in an effort to escape Emma decided to get serious about her other passion. Writing. Several years later and Emma has yet to walk on the moon or sit in the Captain's chair, but she is still writing. She scribbles stories in all sorts of genres, contemporary, paranormal, post-apocalyptic, historical, sci-fi...if she hasn't tried it yet she will before long. The only common theme is the romance. A hopeless romantic everything Emma writes has a love story in there somewhere.

Author Bio

Carmen Falcone learned at an early age that fantasizing about fictional characters beat doing math homework any day. Brazilian by birth and traveler by nature, she moved to Central Texas after college and met her broody Swiss husband, living proof that opposites attract. She found in writing her deepest passion and the best excuse to avoid the healthy lifestyle everyone keeps talking about. When she is not lost in the world of romance, she enjoys spending time with her two kids, being walked by her three crazy pugs, reading, catching up with friends, and chatting with random people in the checkout line.

Interview

Hi Carmen,

Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your new novella, A Night Of Misbehaving and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.

Thank you for having me!

So first off, A Night Of Misbehaving Questions.......

In your own words, what is A Night Of Misbehaving about?

Georgia is a hard-working single mom who joins an online dating site. Problem is, her date ends up being Brent, whose daughter goes to the same preschool as Georgia’s. Will she forgive him when she discovers the real reason behind his showing up at the restaurant?

How did you come up with the title of the novella and can you tell us its significance?

My two characters do things in that one night that they usually don’t. So I thought misbehaving just had to be a part of the title, and am so happy I got to keep it! My editors at Entangled just rock.

Is A Night Of Misbehaving a standalone novella or will it be part of a series?

I subbed another novella to my editor, Alice’s story, so let’s all cross our fingers and hope for the best!

What genre would you say A Night Of Misbehaving is and what sets your novella apart for fans of the genre?

It’s a contemporary romance. I say the characters are very relatable and it’s one of those “it could happen to you” stories that readers will fall in love with.

What was your favorite scene to write for either your hero or heroine in A Night Of Misbehaving?

When they go to a public pool at night. To know more, you have to read the book *grin*

What was the hardest scene to write?

The end!

What's your favorite line or quote from this novella?

I really like this bit

“Why not?” he said. “You don’t like me, do you?”

She upped an eyebrow. “I like you…just not enough to go on a date with you.”

“Ouch.” He touched his heart and made a sad face. “You really know how to woo a guy.” He turned his attention to her mouth.

She chuckled. “I’m sure you’ve already been wooed into the next century.”

His eyes lifted and focused on hers again. A shot of espresso spilled into her bloodstream.

“Then give me a chance to woo you.” He swung around to signal the bartender, and she lifted her hand to her neck, squirming in her chair.

Writing.......

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated and what made you decide to pursue it as a career?

Writing has always been a critical part of my life. Even as a little girl, I enjoyed composition class and coming up with fictional characters. I decided to pursue it because I wanted to do something I truly love.

What inspires you to put the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard?

To let the characters come to life.

What are some of the elements in/of your writing process?

I like to hook the reader from the beginning, so usually my first sentence is catchy. I also try to avoid super long sentences. When I’m writing a dialogue, I read out loud to make sure it sounds real and there’s not a lot of repetition.

Are you a Plotter or a Panster?

A bit of both!

Have you released anything under a different pen name, and if so, is there any difference between them?

No.

What's next for you?

I have an Indulgence novel coming in September, KIDNAPPING THE BRAZILIAN TYCOON.

Is there anything you’d like to add or say to your fans?

I’d like to say thanks so much for your support. I also love to hear from readers and writer friends. My email is carmenauthor@yahoo.com

Personal questions......

Now I know this is like asking you to choose between your own children, but out of all your amazing characters, who is your favorite and why?

I really love Bruno, the dashing Brazilian hero from my upcoming Kidnapping the Brazilian Tycoon. He’s pretty much the perfect man – but don’t tell that to my husband! J

Are there any of your stories or characters that hold a special place in your heart?

All of them.

If the novella had to have a theme song, what would it be?

Daylight by Maroon 5

Lastly, let's steal an idea from the magazines.....What 5 things do fans not know about you and 5 they don't know about the novella?

Five things about me:

  1. My handwriting is atrocious. You only understand it if you’re a doctor or an archeologist.
  2. I lived in Fresno, CA, for one year as an exchanging student.
  3. I have three pugs, and they sometimes let me sit on the couch.
  4. I love Tina Fey.
  5. I lose my car keys at least twice a day.

Five things about A Night of Misbehaving:
  1. My second option for the title was “Breaking All the Rules.” I’m glad I chose Misbehaving!
  2. It’s the first time I wrote a story set in the same city I live.
  3. Inspiration came to me when I was watching my daughter at The Little Gym.
  4. I totally picture Ryan Gosling as Sexy Dad.
  5. I wrote the first draft in five days.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking time to answer some questions. Congratulations on the new novella and I can't wait for everyone to read it!

My pleasure! Thanks so much for giving me this opportunity. Success to all of us! Cheers!
