Review : Fable (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale #3) by Chanda Hahn (YA)

Book Blurb

Book 3 in the UnEnchanted Series.

All that glitters is not gold.

When something precious is stolen from sixteen-year-old Mina Grime, she will do anything in her power to get it back, even if it means traveling to the dangerous Fae plane and battling one of the strongest fairy-tale villains yet.

However, nothing can prepare Mina for the dangerous obstacles she will face in the Fae world, or the choices she must make when love and life are on the line.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

In the third installment in the Unfortunate Fairy Tale Series, Mina is again trying to survive what the story has thrown at her. Her best friend and her crush are now fated for each other and Mina is trying to come to terms with it. She is also trying to figure out how to defeat Teague. Teague is tied to the story and is the cause of her tales. Mina knows that in order to end the curse she has to kill Jared’s brother, Teague. That knowledge makes Mina feel guilty and unable to face Jared. She spends the summer ignoring the tales and not needing Jared.

Before she is supposed to go back to school there is a fire in her apartment building and her little brother Charlie perishes. At least she thinks he does, until a strange man approaches her and makes a bargain she can’t refuse. She needs to cross the veil and enter the land of the Fae to retrieve the story for this man. In return he will return her little brother to her. It is a deal Mina has no choice to take.

Jared can’t help her so she has to find help elsewhere. She has to stay level headed and figure a way out of this situation alive and with her brother intact.

This book was a great addition to the series. The story keeps getting better and better. I really like Mina’s character. She has a huge heart and it helps her more than the Fae anticipate. The author is throwing everything at her and her reactions are relatable and smart. She learns from her mistakes and tries to do what is right. She has a lot of spunk and courage, a great heroine.

The storyline is exciting and I never know which direction the author is going to take. It kept me reading through all three books quickly. I couldn’t put them down. I recommend them all and this one doesn’t disappoint. I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next one. I give it a 4 out of 5.
