Review : Breaking the Storm (Credence Curse #1) by Sedona Venez (NA/PNR)

Book Blurb

*New Adult Paranormal Romance*

I wanted Knox. There was no need to deny that fact.

Knox was the type of guy you gravitated to, who stood out in the crowd. It wasn't just his classically good-looking features and perpetual five o’clock shadow. It was his raw energy that entranced me, that made me feel like a giggly, fumbling high school girl, happy to be in his presence.

Yes, there’s no denying it, front man Knox Gunner was a sexy badass.

It didn't matter that he initially thought I was some bored, rich girl trying to live out some wild fantasy of being with a starving musician. It was uncomplicated and that's what we both wanted. At least that's what I convinced myself. I wasn't ready to admit to myself that my feelings for Knox were getting dangerously deep—waiting to lay siege on my heart. I was falling for him… and this was dangerous. The rules were clear: falling in love would obligate me to expose what I truly was, setting in motion his slow march to death.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Stormy is a hybrid Fae-witch and a Credence woman. All Credence women are under the mercy of a curse. Any human they fall in love with and learns of the Others ends up dying.

Stormy and her cousin Light are trying to find themselves and separate themselves from their two crazy mothers. They are the last of the Credence line. During this time in college, Stormy meets rocker Knox Gunner. She starts falling for him and it scares her to death. She has been warned about the curse for her whole life. So she leaves Knox thinking to save his life.

Five years later she finds herself working in the family company. She and Light are trying to prove to their mothers that they are capable enough to take over the business when their mothers retire. While their mothers are away, everything starts to go wrong. Escorts end up missing and a nosy reporter is poking around. Both Stormy and Light have to take the place of the missing escorts. As a result, Storm comes face to face again with Knox. Knox is determined to dominate her and gets her to agree to be his escort. Knox wants nothing more than to break through her walls and give her what she really needs. Storm is scare of the curse and what it will do to Knox. She is afraid to give up control and trust him. However, she may just have to take a leap of faith as the truth comes out and her world threatens to come crashing down around her.

I liked this book. The world that this author developed was interesting. The chemistry between the characters was electric and steamy. The love scenes were written well and completely hot, hot, hot! The situations that Storm finds herself were creative and liberating.

The chase and banter between Storm and Knox was fun to read. The storyline was multi-faceted with a lot going on, but didn’t divide the story. It had a great flow. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens. I give it a four out of five.
