The Bad Boys & Wallflowers series by Maya Rodale is actually 2 totally different series that intermix with each other. The Bad Boys is a Contemporary Romance about an librarian/budding author whom is making her way through life in New York and has gotten into a bit of a pickle with a beautiful billionaire bad boy. The Wallflowers is a Historical Romance shadowing events from BB.
So Toot, what are you trying to say?
Well, basically the heroine in BB, Jane, the librarian/author is writing the Wallflowers series in the BB series and Maya Rodale has taken the series idea and written the Wallflowers series as well. In the BB series, the heroine, Jane, has decided to try her hand at being an author. She's always loved HR but has put the book on the back burner until she gets an idea and decides to incorporate her own life's events into the book. By doing this, she finds instant fame but didn't think it out very well and now her friends, family and lovers are caught up in a scandal of epic proportions. "Is art imitating fiction"?
The BB series should be read in order, it's more a serial whereas the Wallflowers can be read as stand alone.
All in all, the series is cute and cleverly written on both ends of the spectrum. It's the ultimate romance fan's dream come true. Not only are you treated with great characters, hunky men and bodice rippers but you also get the modern day and early day versions of a similar story. Oh and did I say, LOVED IT!!!
