Primal Hunger
Pendragon Gargoyles Book 1

When the sun goes down, passion is unleashed.

Kennedy Beaumont loves her bartending job, even if her spirited nature sometimes gets her in trouble. Like threatening to hose down one of Pendragon’s co-owners. When it comes to Tristan, she could use a good hosing down herself—maybe it’ll help her stop casting him as the star of her wickedest dreams. Since he goes out of his way to avoid her, it ought to be easy to put him out of her head—until he reluctantly offers her a ride home.

Gargoyle shape-shifter Tristan Callaghan hasn’t had time for anything other than recovering the mystical dagger that was used to permanently lock his brother in a prison of stone. The cat inside him should have stopped craving Kennedy’s touch long ago, but now that she’s sitting next to him in his car, his very human need for her is sharper than ever.

The distraction is costly. In a split second, Kennedy finds herself thrust into a dangerous, millennia-old hunt for Excalibur. A hunt that marks her for death—and leaves Tristan with a painful choice—sacrifice his family, his quest…or the one woman meant to be his.

Primal Pleasure
Pendragon Gargoyles Book 3

He will have his revenge…one wicked seduction at a time.

Emma is used to getting dragged into her twin sister’s magical messes, but this time her predicament is more than a minor annoyance. She’s chained to a cat shifter that her sister encased in a curse of stone. Worse, the unfortunate gargoyle’s waking up. And her sister’s not there to take the heat.

After a century suspended in stone, Cian would do anything to get his hands on the sorceress who put him there. Strangely, his dreams of revenge turn into an animal hunger to put his hands all over her—in every delightfully wicked way imaginable.

Never as talented as her sister, Emma doesn’t trust her own magic. But for now she must let Cian believe she’s the culprit in order to strike a bargain: to permanently lift the curse in exchange for his tracking skills to find her missing sister. The longer she is near him, though, the closer she comes to surrendering much more than her body to the brutal warrior.

As their attraction catches fire, Emma dreads what could happen when he learns the truth. If he will sacrifice her to break the spell…or fight for a love that goes beyond animal instinct.

Condemned to darkness…tempted by passion.

Enslaved by a vengeful goddess, forced to live on blood, Lucan can barely remember life as a knight of the Round Table. Yet when one woman’s touch awakens millennium-old feelings that tame the savage darkness within him, he has no choice but to deny their all-consuming passion—for her own protection.

Cat-shifter Briana Callaghan has watched all three of her brothers find their mates, but love isn’t in her future. Especially when her mate turns out to be a lethal mercenary…and the only man ever to break her heart.

When she’s chosen to compete in the Gauntlet, an immortal death match, Briana realizes the prize—the sword Excalibur—is her only hope of severing the fierce bond that has the power to destroy her.

Stunned to find themselves pitted against each other, Briana and Lucan quickly find that the only thing they’re fighting harder than their enemies is their sizzling, heartbreaking chemistry. But even if they survive the Gauntlet, claiming the woman he loves will be as impossible as letting her go.

Interview

Hi Sydney,

Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about the series and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.

So first off, Your newest book is part of the Pendragon Gargoyles Series. Let's talk about the series as a whole.

In your own words, what is the Pendragon Gargoyles Series about?

It’s reinvented Arthurian Legend, meets sexy shape-shifters, meets kick-ass heroines and lots of action in and out of the bedroom.

How did you come up with the idea, title of the series and of the current book, Primal Temptation?

Well the series title was easy since it’s primarily centered around my gargoyles and Pendragon ‘s is the name of the bar the Callaghan family runs. It’s also an Arthurian term that just fit. And Primal Temptation was the perfect title as the heroine in the book, Briana is someone that tempts the hero, Lucan, a cursed Knight of the Round Table, like no one else.

How does the new book, Primal Temptation, fit into the series?

It’s the 4th book and the first full length story in the series. The rest were all novellas. The one comment I was seeing a lot was how much readers wished the earlier books were longer and I paid attention.

How many books are planned for the series?

It started out as 4 or 5 and now I think it will be about 10. A lot of things changed in Primal Temptation that sort of threw the doors wide open on this world in really unexpected ways while I was writing.

What was your favorite scene to write for your hero or heroine in Primal Temptation?

Definitely the Alley scene

What was the hardest scene to write for Primal Temptation?

I don’t remember any that I struggled with out of the ordinary.

*with a wink* Did anything memorable happen to you, that you wouldn't mind sharing, during the writing of this book?

My life would certainly sound more exciting if there had been something. Although life with a busy family and 5 kids is always memorable.

Writing.......

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated and what made you decide to pursue it as a career?

I've loved to write ever since I was a kid, but not until I had children myself did I finally stop rewriting the first half of my first book over and over and just finished it.

What inspires you to put the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard?

On the creative side I’m influenced by almost anything: Memories, places I've visited/would like to see, images, news headlines, movies, books, music. Especially music! I’m constantly surprised by the story ideas triggered by all of the above, especially when paired with the question, “What If?” That’s what really fuels my imagination.

What are some of the elements in/of your writing process?

I’m huge on brainstorming, and before the likes of Scrivener, I loved putting all my scene ideas down on index cards and being able to move them around until they fit.

Are you a Plotter or a Panster?

Panster all the way, but I love those moments where unexpected twists pop up. Primal Temptation has a few of those.

Have you released anything under a different pen name, and if so, is there any difference between them?

Nope. Just Sydney so far ;)

What's next for you?

More gargoyles and witches. The next book in my Spellbound series (a family of witches who run a PI firm, is out in December. Must Be Magic is a really fun reunion love story set in paradise, at least until the plane crashes,

Is there anything you’d like to add before we get into the personal questions?

Just…fire away

Personal questions......

Now I know this is like asking you to choose between your own children, but out of all your amazing characters, who is your favorite and why?

Right now… Morgana. It’s not often that I get to write a fun, complex villain. I only got to scratch the surface with her in Primal Temptation, but there will definitely be more of her to come.

What actor do you envision playing your fav in a movie or TV adaption?

I absolutely suck at picking out who would play any of my characters in a movie. I would make a horrible casting director LOL

Are there any of your stories or characters that hold a special place in your heart?

All of them. At one time or other every single one of them was important to me, drove me crazy or made me fall in love. As crazy as it sounds, they’re a huge part of the reason I love my job so much.

If the book or series had to have a theme song, what would it be?

The main theme song for Primal Temptation was Nickleback’s Far Away.

Lastly, let's steal an idea from the magazines.....What 5 things do fans not know about you and 5 they don't know about the book?

Me

1. Laundry is my least favorite chore.

2. I had to convince my 8yro to watch Star Wars (he thought it would be lame) and now he can’t get enough.

3. I absolutely LOATHE snakes.

4. I sometimes snort when I laugh.

5. My kids are not allowed in the room when I play video games. I have too much of a potty mouth.

Primal Temptation

1. King Arthur makes his first appearance. Sort of.

2. It features the characters for the next two books in the series.

3. Not everyone is who they seem.

4. Lucan and Briana have a complicated history.

5. No slinkies were harmed in the writing of this book.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking time to answer some questions. Congratulations on the new book and I can't wait for everyone to read it!

Thank you! And thanks so much for having me!
