Toot's Review
Richelle Mead's newest installment of her Vampire Academy spinoff Bloodlines series is called The Fiery Heart. In this book, fans finally, finally get what they have been waiting for......Sydney and Adrian!
But before I go an spoil everything, let me give you a bit of a synopsis from my point of view.
The Fiery Heart picks up right where the last book, The Indigo Spell left off. Sydney and Adrian have decided to brave a new relationship together when their world says that their love is an abomination. A Vampire and an Alchemist cannot have a relationship but these two crazy kids tackle the unknown secretly and forge one anyway.
As for the rest, well there's the usual hi-jinks. Good vampires vs. bad vampires, keeping Jill safe, love triangles, high school drama, witches, tattoos and kidnapping! Oh but guess what, I'm stopping there......no more spoilage, LOL.
Anywho, as an adult lover of romance, I gotta say, I really enjoyed this book and it is probably my favorite out of the series, so far. One thing that bugged me about Vampire Academy was that it stayed firmly in the YA realm. I'm not saying its a bad thing but when it came to the two main characters "showing their love" it was all under wraps and very sanitized. Granted, would I want my teen niece learning about the birds and the bees before her time from a YA novel, absolutely not but back to my point about the book, it did seem very rushed and glossed over. Fortunately for my romance lovin' heart, that is not the case in this book. These two make a responsible decision and Richelle does a great job at making sure it's right for the characters as well. Out of all her many books, I think this one just oozed romance and was a welcome delight. It also had lots of action and a surprising twist at the end.
I won't say that this book is a turning point in the series but it definitely moves the story in a great direction. I'm not sure how many more books are slotted for the rest of the series but you can totally tell the end is nigh.
