Book Blurb
Toot's Review
NOW THAT IS HOW YOU WRITE AN NA XMAS NOVELLA!!!! Being close to the holidays, It seems everyone is squeezing in Xmas stories, long and short. As a book blogger, I think my tablet is on freakin' overload with all the mushiness. Some have been good, some have been...well not so good and Santa is definitely not going to bring everyone great reviews this season but this story, OMG, it takes the freakin' cake!!! First let me say, I am an H.M. Ward fan. When I want a good NA story, I really needn't look further then her stories. When I saw this novella and realized I hadn't read it yet, I downloaded it and moved it to the top of my TBR pile. I am so freakin' happy I did too but before I dance around the Xmas tree and roll around in glitter from my fits of joy, let me give you a little synopsis first.
Holly Connelly has lusted after Ryan Darcy for years. They were high school friends whom were firmly planted in the "friend zone". Both secretly wanted each other but the timing was never right, so they just stayed friends, never knowing how the other felt and figured friendship was the safest play until Holly suddenly leaves after high school and never tells anyone where she's gone.
Well now it's winter break and she decides to come home. One evening, her friend decides to take her to a club to hear a guy play whom she's crushing on. Holly knows it's more then likely Ryan will be there too and she's hoping he'll notice and/or even remember her.
Ryan can't stop talking about Holly and his friends are sick of hearing about her. They've decided to take him clubbing to get his mind off the girl that got away. He's absolutely miserable since his best friend left without a word. He's worried about her and he misses her but has no idea where she's gone and no one knows either. The last place he wants to be is at a club but reluctantly he goes. After the guy singing is finished, he looks across the room and can't believe his eyes, it's her!!
Holly finds herself face to face with Ryan and she's not going to let this opportunity slip by. She wants no regrets in her new life and if that means a one night stand with her slutty man-whore ex BFF, then so be it! She needs to get over him to move forward.
Ok that's all I'm saying because this is a short story but SO FREAKIN' WORTH IT!! The sexual tension is mind-numbingly off the charts. I don't think I've ever read a book (full length or not) with so much sexual tension. I almost just skipped forward because my heart couldn't handle it anymore but I didn't *grin*. It's also one of the most romantic novellas I've read in a long time. You just want to cheer at the end. I love how the book also goes between both characters' POV. It adds to the story and increases the tension because you see how both characters are struggling with their feelings and I will say this, I loved seeing the guy struggle with his feeling and completely "F" it up!
Ok, so now that I've danced around the Xmas tree and rolled in glitter, I'll leave you with this closing thought, if you want a wonderful NA warm-fuzzy romance, buy this book or better yet, try the audio book because you won't be disappointed!!!
