Toot's Review

Let me start this off by saying, I was absolutely in love with the first book in the series Poison Princess. I thought it was a very unique take on the YA genre. It was dark, gritty and apocalyptic. There were also zombies! I mean really, what was not to like??? Well except we needed more of the hero, Jackson, LOL. Anywho with that being said, Endless Knight is the second book in the series and from the get-go, I'm gonna tell you, it is not a YA book unless you want your kid reading about cannibalism, torture, and sex. Although as an adult book, I loved it but I definitely would think twice about giving it to my kid to read. If you're going to twist my arm though, I'd probably say 16+ would be alright. *steps off soap box*

So let's get to what you really care about, the synopsis, LOL. I'll try to avoid spoilers but come on, it's a bit hard!

So like I said, this is the second book in the series. It picks up right where the first one leaves off. It's a continuation of the story as a whole. Eve has come into her powers and now has some decisions to make. Whether to join the game? Possibly change the game? To kill Death or not to? So many choices and on top of all that, Jack is horrified by what she's become, even though he came to her rescue, well sort of. It's a lot for a teenage girl to take in and these are some pretty big decisions to decide. It's totally life and death, dog eat dog now. But decide she does. She has decided to join the game long enough to hunt down Death, kill him, then they can all stop playing and live normal lives. If no one plays, no one dies and they all live.....right?

So with that being said and the decisions agreed upon by her rag tag group, Eve now needs to fix things with the man she loves, Jackson, while keeping their wits about them and trying to make it to her grandmother's house. As the journey continues with her Scooby gang, so does the danger until Eve comes face to face with the man who's been haunting her mind and the man she has vowed to kill.....Death!

Death also has his own agenda and being killed is not on it. He wants to capture Eve and make her his until he decides to kill her himself. He is very upset she has dragged a mortal, Jackson, into their game and wants to make her pay. He also is hiding a huge secret from her and she'll never find out if either one of them dies. "Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive!"

Hmmmmm so what did I think about this sophomore addition to this series? I liked it! I wasn't in love with it the way I was with the first book but I did enjoy it. In fact, I gobbled this one up in a day and didn't sleep until 3am, LOL. Back to the book *squirrel*, like I said, it's definitely more sexier then the first book and the whole book revolves around Eve's love life with zombies, deceit, cannibalism and mind control all weaved throughout. Eve is definitely growing into her powers and is a way stronger character in this book then she was in the first. She can stand on her own two feet and defeat Death if need be. According to the book, she's Death's ultimate opposite, he's Death, she's Life.

I didn't want to ruin the big secrets in the book but just know that if anyone could tear Eve and Jack apart (well besides themselves) it's going to be the secrets Death reveals.

Also this sophomore addition stays true to the original world that Kresley has built, all the while taking the teen aspect out and giving this book a drool worthy advance forward into a normal PNR realm. As an adult, I loved all the romance aspects of the book. It filled my need for smexiness, all the while setting you up for the next book to come. Yep I said it, this book ends on a freakin' cliff and does leave you hangin'........Uggggggg!

If you want a really great PNR/YA book, definitely give this series a try but if you hate cliffhangers, you might want to wait till the 3rd book.

4 out of 5 books
