Toot's Review

Macrieve is the newest installment of Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series and as aptly titled, it's about the werewolf, Macrieve.

Poor, poor Macrieve. We find him right before he's taken to the Order's compound, where he's tortured, vivisected and possibly had even been gang raped all because of General Todd's crazed obsession with protecting humans against Immortals. This mammoth event happened in a previous book, Dreams of a Dark Warrior, and we're still getting great stories from it. His subsequent capture, piled on top of a previous childhood trauma that still haunts him even though he's over 900 years old, really makes Macrieve a very angry, twisted wolf.

Enter the talented Women's Soccer champion and daughter of the Order's General, Chloe Todd. She is a total tomboy and has no room in her life for men. She loves her father, soccer and not much else. She's also trying out for the Olympic team as well......pffftttt.....who has time for men! Except when she's abruptly abandoned by her father, captured by witches and sold on an auction block as the only living heir to the hated General Todd, Chloe has no choice but to rethink her priorities!

I absolutely loved this addition to the IAD series but then again, Kresley is on my fav's authors list and I especially love her IAD series. If you haven't read it and love PNR, grab it....grab the whole thing!! This series is hot, sexy and funny as hell. I can't get enough of all her creatures and the books keep you guessing as to what the heck is going on and how is it all going to work out??? Her characters are always so rich and full of life and completely laugh out loud hilarious.

Now I normally don't like spoilers myself and avoid them if I can but while reading this book, there was one point where I couldn't take the suspense any longer and went to Goodreads to see what was what. Why am I telling you this??? Well because the book is so full of twists and turns, ups and downs, as well as such sharp angles that I think I cut myself on one? It was an awesome ride!!! I'm not sure I fully fell in love with Macrieve as a hero though, he was a total douche bag through most of the book but I did love Chloe and I loved all the other characters. I would normally give it a 5 out of 5 but there were parts that felt a little forced and I really hate men who are so blinded by hatred that they lash out and are just total douches. It's one thing when they have their moments but a whole book full of douciness is a bit much. I'd still say it's definitely worth the read!!!

4 out of 5 books
