Book Blurb
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.
Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.
Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.
Toot's Review by Stephanie Silva
Lexi is a young woman whose father died years ago. She misses him a lot and tries her best to keep the ring he gave her because that is a part of him that was left behind just for her. Her mother remarried to a man that belongs to the High Society that has a special interest on Lexi and that make her mother jealous. It is amazing how can a mother hates her own daughter because of a man that is nothing but a pervert jerk that acts as like a charming gentleman. Her mother accused of having sexual intercourse before getting married and because of that accusation she ends up being labeled as a whore and sent to the Hole. In this just for sinners’ town all the prisoners are branded forever by a color and lose every ounce of dignity, respect and humanity. The guards don’t treat them as humans but as animals that deserve nothing at all. Because of her color she is given her own guard, Cole, to protect her. The blue’s never last…they are seen as whores and treated as ones. Every male wants to fuck her and they don’t care if they have to hurt her if that means they can have their way with her.
The beginning of the novel is quite intriguing and makes you wonder how she ended up being so broken yet strong but I have to day that the ending was quite rushed…I felt as if something was missing and that the authors could developed it a little more. There is going to a sequel so maybe some things will be explained a little more there ;)
Cole isn't that nice to her but at least he starts to act civil towards her as he gets to know her. It as if he knew who she really is. She starts working at the hospital of the Hole and there she learns who that horrible town really is. The medicines are very rare and people would fight to get them either to heal themselves or for their addictions. Plenty of the nurses focus on flirting with the guards to gain special privileges and there is no peace and quiet there. The guards can get in and kill you there if you broke the rules of the Hole. If you want to survive you must remember this:
1. Never fall in love with a guard if you want to stay alive.
2. Never go against the Commander. His word is law and he should be obeyed at all times even if that means killing other or yourself.
3. You must work on the task you have been given
4. Never go against the guards.
Too bad Lexi broke the golden rule…but when love knocks at your door you can’t just ignore it…no matter how hard you try.
“You’re amazing just the way you are. There’s not a single thing I would change about you. When you smile my entire world stops. All I see is you. I need you” – Cole
But when your love is forbidden…Can you really be with the one you love?
“When we get out, I’m not leaving you no matter what you think is best for me. Without you, I’m already dead, each day I get to be with you is one more day we didn’t have yesterday. It’s my choice and I choose to be with you-no matter the consequences. I’ll fight for us because nothing else brings me happiness except loving you” – Cole
Does love really conquer all?
Let’s read Branded and figure it out
4 STARS

I am leaning to 4 1/2 stars. Yes, we are all dealing with the hard times we have lived through...but she did it better than most
