Book Blurb
Is
the gift of eternal love a blessing or a curse?
After years of counseling grieving shifters, psychiatrist and half-shifter, Dr.
Jaylin Avgar has become jaded on shifter mating. She wants to marry a human and
forget about the love for eternity crap. Then she meets Aidan O’Connell, an
infuriatingly laid back shifter who represents everything she doesn’t want.
Yet, the more he pursues her, the more she craves a future with him. Only one
thing stands in her way: death. Can she overcome her fear of losing Aidan to
the one guarantee in life?
Millionaire consultant, Aidan O’Connell knows he’ll one day meet a woman who’ll
awaken an unrelenting mating instinct. Unfortunately, that woman is Jaylin, who
has no qualms about telling him that he and his so-called eternity can shove
it. When she pushes him away, he takes a drastic step so she can no longer
escape. The close proximity throws the instinct into overdrive. Can he control
the need engrained in him until he’s certain she will reciprocate the bond, or
will a moment of weakness doom him to hell on earth?

Five Things about me and Five things about Aidan
I’ve been asked to share five things about me and five things about The Awakening: Aidan.
Five things about me:
1) I’m mommy to boy/girl twins. They just turned nine. The girl, who entered the world just one minute before her brother, takes being the older sibling very seriously, which infuriates my son. He can’t stand being referred to as the little brother. When he insists that a minute doesn’t count, she just shrugs and says, “I was still born first, so I’m older.”
2) I didn’t start writing until I had my twins. In fact, I was horrible about writing anything. I even tried to keep a pregnancy journal and made it a week before stopping. Sad, right? I got the itch to try my hand at writing after finding myself mentally rewriting the books I was reading with the ways I would have liked to have seen the story go.
3) The first book I ever wrote was a historical that will NEVER see the light of day. I got the idea from watching way too much General Hospital and being completely fascinated with Helena Cassadine and her evil ploys to keep Nikolas and Emily apart. And yes, the story had the all the crazy plots twists only found in a soap opera. The book will always be special to me because it was my start toward a writing career, but revisiting the story years later, uh, wow!
4) At 35, my hair is 75% white. Not gray…white. My family starts graying in our teens and by the time we are in our 40’s, we are completely white headed. I’ve been dying my hair red since I was a teenager. Gotta love genes.
5) I have a thing for gingers. Kevin McKidd anyone?
And now five things you don’t know about The Awakening: Aidan.
1) Aidan is a ginger :-P
2) Only men born from a shifter father have a beast and can shift. They also have a mating instinct that is dormant until they come face-to-face with their true mate, at which time the instinct starts to stir.
3) Females born from a shifter father, referred to as half-shifters, do not have a beast and can’t shift, but some have unique abilities superior to a male shifter’s. Half-shifters do not have a mating instinct, which means shifters can have a hell of a time wooing their mate into falling in love with them.
4) Kissing is the gateway to the instinct completely awakening. Once a shifter kisses his mate, it unleashes a potent need to mark.
5) Liam and Britton are the next two books.
Thanks so much for having me today, Carey!
