Calla is the alpha female of a shape-shifting wolf pack. She is destined to marry Ren Laroche, the pack's alpha male. Together, they would rule their pack together, guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But then, Calla saves a beautiful human boy, who captures her heart. Calla begins to question everything - her fate, her existence, and her world and the orders the Keepers have asked her to follow. She will have to make a choice. But will she follow her heart if it means losing everything, including her own life?

Nightshade: Book 1

Once I read the first paragraph  I was hooked immediately. There were three lines that got me reading more of the book. Like when the author said “Its hot breath assaulted my nostrils, fueling my blood lust”. That sentence gives me the clue that the book is either going to be about vampires or werewolves. For one I am in love with vampires and werewolves stories. The sentence also gives me a feeling of suspense. It makes me want to know what’s going to happen next and also to want to read the next chapter. If you go a little further in the same paragraph the author also writes “Behind me I could hear the boy’s ragged gasp. The desperate sound made my nails dig into the earth.” This sentence tells me that there is a boy involved and for a possible romance in the story. Which I love romance stories. And last Sentence that got my attention was “I snarled at the larger predator again, daring it to try to get past me.”  It tells me that the character is not afraid of the enemy and they are also courageous for protecting someone. This book is very captivating and I would recommend it to other people to read.
