This is book 2 in the Nightwalkers series. The blurb above basically gives you the back story. I didn't really fall in love with the two main characters who the love story is centered around but they do have a story to tell. These two characters are very prominent in the first book, Jacob, so the natural progression of the series would be to tell their story. Unfortunately, I didn't really bond with either of these two characters while they were single characters nor when they became a couple. Gideon being the eldest of his race has a bit of a pompous attitude and Magdelegna, I really wanted to like but she sometimes was a bit of a diva and not in a good way. I got to the point where I got very tired reading about how beautiful she is and how much in awe of her he is (she's pretty, I get it, move on already!).
The story itself is just a continuation of the main story with then the couple's love story woven in. We get to continue to view Jacob and Bella's lives and how the pregnancy is going. We also get to find out more about Noah and because Magdelegna is his sister, we find out more about their family history. We also of course learn more about Gideon and his past. As for the series, the book itself opens the Nightwalker world up a bit more for the reader. We learn more about Vampires and Shapeshifters and are introduced to their royalty. We also get to learn more about the Necromancers, who are the villains in the series, at least so far. There is definitely lots of action going on including a huge battle scene and lots love making. I did find a bit of continuity issues for me and I'm still not quiet sure if certain events even took place, like were babies born or not?
Anywho, it was still a good read and a must if you read the first.
