Final Reviews for Kate Douglas StarQuest series book #3-6 (PNR/Exotica)

Hey all two of you, here's my thoughts on the last few stories of Kate Douglas's StarQuest series books 3-6. I'm grouping these together because they are supper short and pretty much figured I'd brake my thoughts down by book.

#3 - Pride of Imar - http://www.amazon.com/Pride-Imar-StarQuest-Three-ebook/dp/B003NX6ZRS/ref=la_B001H6OFQ6_1_54?ie=UTF8&qid=1346550637&sr=1-54
I actually really enjoyed this story. It was of Sheyna and Malachi. Sheyna is the little sister of the main character in book 2. She feels like an outcast in her home world and feels like she can be of help and make a new start on earth. Then there's Malachi.....I just love this character. He's the sexy, monkish doctor who's an ass in the beginning of the books but you see how you misjudged him. As the books go on, you see his deep love for Sheyna and how really wrong he was about their who species. Now granted, it's a totally see-through plot line but again, these are short stories and are made of more "mommy-porn" then anything else but again they are fun, quick reads.
Again, totally loved the characters and this story is a turning point for the series but I do have to give a bit of a warning - This story does deal with some childhood sexual abuse (although it is just stated, not explained) but there is a torture and gang rape scene that is a bit graphic and so I wanted to forewarn you.

#4 - Synergy - http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/synergy-kate-douglas/1021589242?ean=9781419900013
Short story which includes all the characters but is pretty much the last of the original group of rebels. The last two stories in the series 5 and 6 are dealing with the first of the hybrid kids. Anywho, I was sure how I'd like this story, it's about Tim and Carly. Tim in the very beginning of the books is an awkward post teen, young adult kid. He's sweet but he's always been a background character. I really liked the beginning of the story but the Carly has a crisis of conscience and basically cuts him loose. I found this kinda out of character or a bit of a stretch. In the beginning of the book, she's all about the younger men and then all of a sudden she has a problem with it. I realize that we did have to have a reason for her to be on her own, so bad things could happen but I just didn't think her going cold turkey with Tim was the solution. Anyhow, I did like them as a couple and you do see them in the next book as well.

#5 - Bold Journey - http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/bold-journey-kate-douglas/1019740523?ean=9781843608257
This book is a lot longer then the other short story style ones. This one is about Bolden and Cene'. Bolden is the first hybrid male offspring and is lost in space pretty much. I love Bolden as a character but I had a hard time picturing Cene'. She unlike any other character I've run acrossed an I think I was having a hard time getting into their relationship although stepping back, she did make me tear up a few times. I liked Cene' probably more then the "Lady" but I did like the story overall.

#6 - Best Friends Forever - http://www.amazon.com/Best-Friends-Forever-StarQuest-ebook/dp/B0030CML2U/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1346550481&sr=8-8&keywords=starquest
This is the last short story in the series and probably the only one I was disappointed in. This is about the first hybrid girl and a human boy who meet when they are 7 and 8 years old. They formed a very close friendship as kids and of course are destined to be together. I felt this story had a ton of possibility. The characters were great and had such history and build up that I kinda felt cheated at how short their story was and how off-course it got. I felt that the characters could have had something epic but ended with the standard story outline (boy meets girl, boy looses girl, chaos ensues, boy meets girl again, boy sees error of his ways, boy wins girl back).
Now with all that being said, I still enjoyed the read and ultimately if you're looking for a quick series to get you through the week, go for it! Lots of romance, steamy sex scenes, good characters and some far out sci-fi. I was able to make it through all 6 stories in a week. I do love me some short stories in between my epics.

4 out of 5 books for the series
