Spotlight, Review & Giveaway: The Reclaimed Kingdom by Dana Claire

Book Blurb & Info

The Legend is true. The Fear is real.

Under the cruel ministrations of its Queen, the Kingdom of D’Land is in peril. With King Harrison away in foreign lands and neighboring Kingdoms unwilling to intervene, there is no one to protect the people from poverty, harsh punishment, and unreasonable rules of law – except for the Band of Brothers. Struggling with the death of her mother and the legendary Syphon powers she inherited, seventeen year old Dru wants nothing more than to escape her old life and join the motley crew of ruffians, pilfering from the rich to feed the poor and pay their taxes.

She’s able to do just that disguised as a lad, and even when her nature is discovered, nothing changes – except for the way her friend Hawkin treats her. But Dru’s new world is overturned when she and the Brothers seize the treasures of a Prince who threatens to reveal her identity. Together, Dru and her chosen family must find a way to reclaim her destiny and bring balance to the Kingdom. If not, there may be no hope left for anyone.

Toot's Review by Betty Bee

This book is like a one-stop shop for action, adventure, storytelling and a lot of heart. 'The Reclaimed Kingdom,' by Dana Claire is an sci-fi/fantasy novel that fits perfectly into the Young Adult genre but will be a joy to read for all ages.

Seventeen-year-old Dru has recently fallen in with a group of criminals called the Band Of Brothers, after leaving home under mysterious circumstances. Although they are on the run from the law, the Band of Brothers are actually sort of good guys, in that they steal from the rich and give to the poor, look out for each other and accept Dru into their ranks despite the fact that she is a girl. However, during one particular robbery, the Band ends up thieving from the carriage of a man who turns out to be the prince and Dru's past comes back to haunt her in a big way.

See, Dru might have more to do with King Harrison and the evil Queen Ebbigal than she has let her new friends believe and when her true past comes to light, everything changes for her and she soon realizes that she must reclaim her destiny. On top of this, Dru has another secret. Known as a Syphon, she possesses a supernatural power that allows her to draw from the emotions of the people around her. A power that she has always been told to keep quiet about, lest it be used against her. But, with the kingdom in peril, will Dru have to step up and use her abilities and her birthright once and for all?

You'll have to read the book to find out. And I highly recommend it! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. Five stars all around!
