Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Jade is planning the perfect summer as a normal teen. Her life is anything but normal. She tours with her mom and the band Shrinking
Violets. I can see her curiosity about
whether she is missing anything.
There are definitely some issues in her family. Her aunt Julie is a control freak with a
workaholic husband. Jade feels a tad
lost since she doesn’t know her father.
It is bound to be a summer to remember.
She gets her first job at the local pool and her meeting with Quentin is
hysterical. I love how the author set up
the situation. He was such a jerk. I really thought she might punch him. Then enter the apology and the
challenges. He could really read her
pretty well. Jade had to let go and
learn to live a little.
I truly loved her character, she was open-minded and a truly
nice person. Of course, the author gave
her a summer she would never forget.
Secrets were front and center as she also searched for her dad. Then throw in Aunt Julie and, wow, nothing
like a “normal” teenage summer. It was a
great story that I couldn’t put down with great characters. I give it a 5 out of 5.
