Book Blurb
Miranda MacDonnell is on the run. When she inherited a mysterious relic from her mother, she had no idea the dangers it would bring. Now hunted by a relentless foe who will stop at nothing to find her, she has one choice: stow away on the ship of the notorious privateer, Black Hawk.
Rob Hawkins, the half-English privateer known as Black Hawk, has a mission from the Tudor king to find and kill the rogue commander, Sir Ralph Evers. To complete his quest, Hawk must find Miranda, a young woman Evers is pursuing. Caught in a tempest, he is shipwrecked with a "boy" who demonstrates an uncanny ability for saving him. Cast away on the mysterious Isle of the Dead, Hawk realizes that the "boy" traveling with him is actually Miranda MacDonnell and having her means that Evers will come to him. What begins as a ploy —using her as bait—soon changes, however, as he falls in love with her.
Ancient forces are at work, drawing the four possessors of the relic’s power to the Isle of the Dead in the Outer Hebrides for a final battle where good must overcome the forces of evil in this spectacular finale to the Scottish Relic Trilogy.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Miranda has
fled for her life. Her mother is now
dead and her father invited an enemy into the castle. Evers killed her father and set ruin to the
castle killing innocent people. He is
now searching for Miranda. She has
jumped on Blackhawk’s ship. She needs to
get to Druart Castle. Her brother is
there and she is determined to find him.
Unfortunately
a storm leaves Blackhawk and Miranda stranded on the Isle of the Dead. Blackhawk is determined to find any of his
crew or parts of his ship that might have washed ashore. Miranda spends the time saving Blackhawk’s
life and keeping up the ruse that she is a boy.
When she comes face to face with a strange giant and has visions of an
old woman and a druid, she knows her stone is the center of everything.
Unbeknownst
to both of them Evers is on his way to the island with a special
passenger. Two other women and their
husbands are also on their way. They are
all being summoned to the island. There
will be a final confrontation with Evers, Miranda knows she has to protect
Blackhawk.
Things take
a turn when he learns who she really is and why she is on the island. They all have a part to play as destiny
begins to show her hand.
This book
was full of intrigue. It started on a
mysterious note full of danger as Miranda and her mother ran for their
lives. The whole story is full of
instances where Miranda is hiding and fighting for her life. She is smart and takes her gift in
stride. She meets her match in
Blackhawk. He doesn’t believe in her
abilities. He only believes what he
sees.
They work together
and make sacrifices. I like how the
author has thrown them together. Their
relationship forms quickly. I like how
they had to come to trust each other.
Blackhawk is an awesome hero. He
provides humor as he teases Miranda at first.
Then he became her protector. I
really liked his alpha-male character with a bit more compromise when it came
to Miranda.
Evers, on
the other hand, was truly evil. The
author did a great job of creating the perfect villain. The fight scene at the end wasn’t what I
expected. I expected more and a bit
longer. Evers was so evil I expected
more to his demise. The story was great.
I give it a 4 out of 5.
