Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Sara Grey
found her father after he had been murdered.
She was sent to live with her uncle Nate. Since the time she was six, she has been able
to heal animals. She also befriended a
troll named Remy. She claimed friends in Scott, Peter, Greg and Roland. None of her friends were girls. She is a loner, more so after Greg
leaves. She and Scott hate each other
now. Peter and Roland are more social
than she is. She keeps her powers and her friendship with Remy secret. She lives a double life knowing about the
Other People.
She also
suspects her father was killed by a vampire.
Sara is determined to find out the truth. However when trying to meet someone with
answers, she comes face to face with a vampire.
Eli is determined to take her but two hunters come to save her. Just when it looks like the hunter she met
earlier is outnumbered two werewolves join the battle.
Sara is
lucky to get away. Her life completely
changes. The vampire is stalking
her. She learns the true identities of
the werewolves. She also gains two
bodyguards. Her life is full of danger
and complications. Nikolas and Chris are
the warriors that are determined to keep her safe and on a short leash. Sara refuses to be told what to do.
When the
obsessed vampire sends those to track her, Sara must trust her friends and
Nikolas to keep her safe. She no longer
has to do everything alone.
This book
was a great read. Sara was a fabulous
character. She is full of compassion and
kindness. She’s using any powers she has
to help. She has survived tremendous
loss and has learned about the creatures that live alongside humans. She is a survivor and I liked her
instantly. The author made her
independent and stubborn. It was almost
humorous to watch her interact with Nikolas.
She couldn’t stand his overbearing, pushy nature. She refused to change her life. The storyline was fast paced and full of paranormal
creatures. Sara was constantly chased by
creatures and fight scenes with scattered throughout the whole book. Sara’s fear was ever present as was her
determination. Her secrets added to the
storyline. Her trust issues caused more
problems than she fixed.
Nikolas was
definitely an alpha-male. His
frustration was leaping off the page whenever Sara escaped his watchful
eye. He had every confidence in his
ability to protect her. It was fun to
see them butt heads. You could see the
feelings growing the longer the two interacted.
It was an excellent match-up. I
loved this first book and I’m definitely going to read the rest in the series. I give this one a 4.5 out of 5.
