Book Blurb
As the weeks pass, Sara builds new relationships, copes with her new trainers, and tries to manage her ever-changing powers, while keeping her unique heritage a secret. Looming in the background is the constant shadow of the Master who will do anything to find her.
Sara finds herself on a journey of self-discovery that uncovers her true strengths and awakens a part of her she never knew existed. She experiences the delight of new friendships, the sweetness and pain of first love, and a loss so deep it could be the thing that finally breaks her. At the end of it all, she discovers that the one place she was supposed to be safe might not be the refuge she thought it was.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Sara leaves
her friends and only family behind to keep them safe. She joins the Mohiri in Idaho. Unfortunately Nikolas leaves right away and
she is left on her own for close to a month.
She trains everyday to become a warrior.
So far she isn’t very good at it.
She also finds it difficult to fit in with the rest of the
trainees. She refuses to kill for the
sport.
Her fae
powers are getting stronger and she has no clue what is really happening to
her. No one can help her, not even
Aine. She is one of a kind and no one
knows how her powers will develop. When
Nikolas gets back he becomes her trainer.
They start with trying to understand her new abilities. Their attraction seems to grow. However Sara has no idea how to handle his
hot and cold behavior toward her. She is
shocked to learn what is really at fault.
Aine comes
to visit and shows Sara how to control her elemental, water. Sara learns quickly and meets her first
kelpie. Her affinity to animals even
magical creatures grow. The hellhounds
are now in her care. She also feeds and
cares for the griffin and the dragon.
She meets
new family and finds unexpected friends.
Unfortunately her safe haven is just an illusion. Someone is helping the vampires find
her. When they make their move, Sara’s
life is altered yet again. This time,
however, she isn’t going down without a fit.
I love this
series. It keeps getting better and
better. The first book was awesome and
throws you into this new world. This
second book continues as Sara’s adventure continues. There is a new setting with the compound, new
situations with warrior training and new characters introduced.
I love
Desmond. He was a fascinating person
that Sara was drawn to and determined to help.
It was entertaining to read about the two of them. The author also played up Sara’s connection
with the animals and her element. It was
interesting to read as those parts of the story occurred. Sara becomes quite the heroine as she follows
her heart and fighting her way.
Her
relationship with Nikolas is complicated and the author really pours on the
shock when it is revealed why. The
reader can almost feel how Sara reels from the news. This girl is tough and I like her
tremendously. She comes through every
time. I was sad when this book was
done. I can’t wait to read the next
one. This on gets a 5 out of 5.
