Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Ashlyn just
lost her father. She is distraught,
threatening the paramedic. Her
grandmother scolds her about her behavior.
Her grandmother is constantly criticizing her. Ashlyn knows how her grandmother feels about
her.
Jamie and
Reece are her solace. She can’t face her
family so her friends are what she clings to.
She was supposed to go to Ireland with her father for winter break but
now she is taking Jamie. Her grandmother
won’t let her back out completely. Once
there she and Jamie are greeted by Irish relatives. While there she learns exactly what she is
and who her grandmother is.
Enemies are
coming after her and Liam appoints himself guardian. He has no idea what she is. Her life becomes so complicated. The secrets she is keeping is
overwhelming. Her enemies are trying to
pull her family apart. The Glaistig will
want to use her in the war against Andou and his changelings. Her life is never going to be the same and
it’s time to embrace who she really is.
This was a
cool book. There were a lot of shocking
secrets and suspense. I like how Ashlyn
was a regular teenager until the night her father dies. The author did a great job of writing about
the shock. The scene was heart wrenching
and full of all range of emotions. I
felt for her instantly. She also has to
let down Reece easily. She doesn’t feel
remotely the same. Then add in her distant grandmother and her psychotic best
friend. The author created quite a story
that was hard to put down. The first
scene pulls you in then the fight scenes and the secrets keep you reading.
Reece and
Liam’s reactions to everything was in itself stressful on top of everything
else. It was quite the ride for Ashlyn
and the reader is right beside her the whole time. A great read.
I give it a 4 out of 5.
