In this
first book of The Immortal Ones Series, Charity is now going by the name Emily
and attending a new school. She is
having trouble remembering to answer to her new name. She is also cautious
about opening herself up to anyone in case she and her family have to leave
again. Her thoughts change when she
meets a mysterious boy who seems familiar.
Lincoln
Knight comes across her in the woods after she falls and hurts her ankle. He insists on helping her home. Her aunt Catherine and Uncle James are leery. They are keeping secrets that could get them
killed. Link is drawn to Charity and she
to him. He decides to teach her to ski
and she ends up revealing her secrets.
He is
shocked to learn who she is and what her world consists of. Yet he refuses to leave her side. As old enemies circle the area looking for
her and old friends join in to protect her, Link is thrown into her dangerous
world. His life is forever changed.
This book
had an interesting storyline. I like the
immortals part along with the witches and vampire characters. It fueled the story as it centered around
hate of anything different. I liked how
James and Catherine met. I also liked
how Charity came to live with them. Her
loss was heartbreaking.
However I
thought the fact of who Lincoln really was added a bit of creepy to the story. I didn’t like that connection to Charity’s
past. Other than that I liked how the
story progressed and the characters that the author introduced. I was pretty engrossed in the story and it
went quickly. The ending was suspenseful
as Charity came face to face with the enemy.
It was a good read and continues with the second book. I give this story a 4 out of 5.
