Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Maggie Marclay is an artist working at a wedding magazine with her best friend Coco. She is a person who starts things but never really finishes them. She knows what she likes and is ready to find her soulmate. She broke up with her boyfriend, Jason, a couple of months ago after he cheated on her. She wants what Coco has with her husband. However Maggie has been warned her whole life by her mother about the family curse when it comes to love.
When Coco talks her into moving on and making a video for a dating site, her life changes. She buys a used camera with a few of her last dollars. As a result of that purchase she becomes involved in a hunt for her soulmate set up by the guy selling the camera. He is looking for his soulmate also and decides to use an unconventional way to go about it. A person with his same interests and way of thinking would be able to figure out his clues to continue the hunt.
Maggie is truly intrigued and decides to participate. Coco is afraid for Maggie’s safety but she wants her to move on from Jason, so she decides to help her. Of course nothing is easy. Maggie has her horrible roommate, her ex-boyfriend, and her mother to deal with during the time of the hunt. In other words her attention is divided during the whole thing and with the time limit, what is a girl to do? Then in one night her whole life changes and she becomes more determined to get what she wants.
This was a fun read. I liked the interactive parts of the book. There were videos to watch and websites to cruise around. It made the reader a real part of the hunt with Maggie. You were able to search for the clues like she did.
As for Maggie, she was an awesome character. She had interesting tastes and likes. She came across as a quirky romantic who loves the unique and off the wall. You enter this hunt for true love with her and learn more of how she thinks. I was rooting for her the whole way hoping she would find the one meant for her. It was a fun experience and my first time reading a book like this. I would definitely do it again. I give it a 4 out of 5.
