Lights To My Siren

by Lani Lynn Vale

"Vale intertwines these two series effortlessly and produces another engaging, sexy, and fun book that hooked me from page one." ~ Tori from SmexyBooks

You’re The Lights…

Sebastian had one rule.

No women on the back of his bike. Period.

The one time he broke that rule, he killed the woman that was carrying his child.

Then comes Baylee Roberts. She makes Sebastian want to break every single rule he’d ever implemented. Hell, but she even makes him consider that dreaded H word. A helmet.

To My…

Baylee Roberts innocently walked into her bathroom never expecting that she’d find a man in there. It is her bathroom after all, and she lives alone.

From the instant he placed his hat on her head to protect her from the sun, Baylee’s mind becomes filled with thoughts of a certain biker.

She really shouldn’t go there. There’s no telling what kind of dangerous things he does for The Dixie Wardens MC.

Siren…

Nothing is ever as easy as it should be. Their relationship’s one of them.

Baylee’s brother is a cop. Baylee’s father is a cop. Which inevitably means that Baylee’s going to have certain hang-ups about being with a man like himself.

Sebastian has a lot on his plate with his busy job as a firefighter, a single father, and the vice president of The Dixie Wardens MC.

Not enough, though, to keep him away from Baylee.

When a series of arsons rattle their hometown and puts Sebastian’s life on the line, Baylee finally realizes the only fire Sebastian can’t put out is the one inside her heart.

Interview

Hi Lani,

Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your new book, Lights To My Siren and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.

So first off, Lights To My Siren Questions.......

In your own words, what is Lights To My Siren about?

We met Sebastian in my Free Bird series. This series starts off with him, and you get a lot more in depth for why he does what he does. He’s a brother. A father. A son. A firefighter. A vice president to a MC. Oh...and an ex-con! (Kind of...you’ll see if you read it.)

Baylee is a paramedic. She meets Sebastian one day when she least expects it.

Their story is a trial of love. They fall for each other hard and fast. There’s only a million things getting in their way, though. Mainly that Sebastian belongs to an MC; they do some shady things, but all in the name of justice.

Baylee’s father’s a cop. Her brother’s a cop. So there is definitely some uncertainty going on there.

They there are the arsons that are happening around them, putting the people they know and love under the heat.

How did you come up with the title of the book and can you tell us its significance?

I know that the title, Lights to My Siren, is unusual. But, I fell in love with it. Have you ever heard the saying ‘you’re the peanut butter to my jelly’ or ‘you’re the light at the end of my tunnel’ or ‘You’re the cheese to my macaroni?’ That’s along the lines of what I was thinking, but I wanted to make it firefighter related. I wanted something that would mean a lot to my characters. You can’t have one without the other. Those two things just go together like they were meant to be.

Is Lights To My Siren a standalone book or will it be part of a series?

Lights To My Siren is part ‘The Heroes of The Dixie Wardens’ series.

What genre would you say Lights To My Siren is and what sets your book apart for fans of the genre?

I would say romantic suspense. Although there are no shortage of sex scenes.

What are some of the elements of the world you created?

I started with a small town that was real, and then slowly built my world into it, making it mine. So although there are some instances that are real, I took some liberties and made it to what I wanted it to be. Sebastian is part of a fire department in Benton, LA. Baylee is part of the fire department in Kilgore, TX, but she’s only a paramedic.

The club Sebastian belongs to, The Dixie Wardens, also play a huge role in this world. Sebastian’s life revolves closely around The Dixie Wardens.

They have some great secondary characters in them that will also have their own books coming soon.

If you had to pick one thing, what is your favorite thing about the world you’ve created?

The camaraderie that surrounds the club.

What was your favorite scene to write for either your hero or heroine in Lights To My Siren?

There are actually quite a bit, but I enjoyed writing the one where the two of them finally come together, and know they are there to stay.

What was the hardest scene to write?

There’s a part towards the end where Sebastian faces something he’d never thought to face before. A realization that he can’t live without Baylee, but at that point, it may be too late.

What's your favorite line or quote from Lights To My Siren?

“My pops has a man crush on Johnny Cash.”

Writing.......

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated and what made you decide to pursue it as a career?

Oh, yes. It all started with a book my mom told me to read. I’d read all of my favorite authors, and then she gave me that book. I won’t tell you the name of the book, because it’s a very, very popular book with some of the older romance fans. The ones that have been reading romances since forever. Anyway, I read it. And HATED it. It was awful. The couple didn’t end up together, and my heart was broken in the end. I felt lost, and I just knew that I could’ve made the ending of that book ten times better. Therefore, I wrote a book of my own and handed it over to my mom. I told her that was how a book was supposed to end.

What inspires you to put the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard?

Honestly, a lot of my day to day activities inspire me. One of my family does something funny, or stupid, it’s going in my book. Memorialized forever!

What are some of the elements in/of your writing process?

Mostly I just sit down and write when I have time. There are days where I get a ton of writing accomplished, but then there are some that it’s just not going to happen. I have three kids under 5, and I go to school full time. Writing is my escape.

Are you a Plotter or a Panster?

I’m a plotter. I have a general idea of where I want things to go, and I go there (For the most part.)

Have you released anything under a different pen name, and if so, is there any difference between them?

No, no different name. However, I’ve thought about branching into the historical genre. I have a thing for Highlanders.

What's next for you?

I’ve just finished the fourth in this series, so now I’ll be starting on the fifth very soon.

Is there anything you’d like to add or say to your fans?

I love hearing what people loved/hated. I try my hardest to apply to everything people ask me. If you have something you want me to hear, I’m ready for it!

Personal questions......

Now I know this is like asking you to choose between your own children, but out of all your amazing characters, who is your favorite and why?

I have another series, and I’m still pretty partial to Ember from Highway Don’t Care. She’s my brain child, the one most like me. Baylee from Lights To My Siren is a pretty close second!

Are there any of your stories or characters that hold a special place in your heart?

In the fourth book of my Free Bird series, Last Day of My Life, there are some things that happen that have happened to me in real life. Things that so deeply touched my heart that I needed to share it with the world. Then again, there’s a lot of things that happen in all of my books that touch my heart. Sebastian and Baylee have a scene like that in Lights To My Siren.

If the book had to have a theme song, what would it be?

Stay With Me by Sam Smith.

Lastly, What 5 things do fans not know about you and 5 they don't know about the book?

Book:
1. This isn’t your typical MC book. If you’re looking for that dark, gritty, cheating and fuc*ing everybody type of book, this isn’t it.

2. My character’s have real life, everyday problems.

3. My characters love the word fuc*.

4. There are some hot, sweaty, sexy men in this book that could quite possibly set your panties on fire.

5. My men are alphas. They’re not politically correct, and they don’t care what you think.

Lani:

1. I am a big fan of naps.

2. I have an obsession with men on motorcycles. I can’t help but stare at them.

3. I have no filter on my mouth. I say what I feel.

4. I can hold a mean grudge. I still remember when my sister dropped my chocolate cake in the parking lot of a restaurant fifteen years ago, and I still remind her of it very often.

5. I’m really good at writing an outgoing person, but get me out in public, and I’m the shy person that hides in the corner of rooms.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking time to answer some questions. Congratulations on the new book and I can't wait for everyone to read it! – Toot’s
