Review : Fake It (Rule Breakers #2) by Jennifer Chance

Book Blurb

As her sizzling new series continues, Jennifer Chance sparks some serious combustion between a sexy biker and a corporate go-getter who’s ready to let her hair down.

New grad Anna Richardson works hard—so hard that she’s given up having a romantic life. Anna has even convinced her friends that she’s dating an amazing guy—who they’ve simply never met. But now Anna has a wedding to attend and needs to produce the hottie she’s been lying about for the past six months. Enter Jake Flynn, her infuriating, motorcycle-riding, jaw-droppingly gorgeous neighbor, who’s more than willing to fake it for a weekend. In fact, Jake won’t be satisfied until things get real.

Though Jake is only playing the role of adoring boyfriend, he’s starting to feel the heat, and judging by Anna’s sweet blush, so is she. Letting chemistry this intense go to waste would be a real shame. Soon, though, the thin line between fantasy and reality fades. Jake may not be what every buttoned-up fast-tracker wants, but he’s sure as hell what Anna needs. And if she takes a ride with him, their adventure never has to end.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Anna Richardson needs to find a man to pass as her boyfriend of six months. Her made up boyfriend that is. Jake Flynn who happens to live down the street may fit the bill. He has been aware of her for the past six months. He is attracted to the sexy blond and agrees with her crazy plan.

Jake wants to give her a memorable weekend away. He knows she is a workaholic. He is up to the challenge. They get to know each other better and Anna lets her hair down a bit. She rides behind Jake on a motorcycle embracing his ideas. He can see how much she worries and getting her to relax is his top priority.

Work keeps trying to interfere in the form of her ex Todd. Jake helps Anna avoid encounters with Todd, but Anna finds it difficult to turn her mind off. She knows she has Jake for just the weekend but constantly questions herself. Work is her safe haven and she constantly falls back into where she feels safe.

Jake is unsure he can compete and Anna doubts herself when it comes to Jake. She holds herself back and doesn’t trust anyone. However when she is presented with a choice between work and Jake, she is torn but knows what is important. At least she hopes.

I liked this book. You meet this group of women in Rock It which is Lacey’s story. This is Anna’s story where you get to know her better. She is a driven character who isn’t really living her life. That is very sad to see anyone do. Work being the only thing they have while life keeps passing them by. Jake was an awesome balance to Anna. I did however feel the need to shake her more than once. The ending was sweet and of course predictable, but I love a happily ever after. I give it a 4 out of 5.
