Q no longer looked devilish but royal.

My heart flew free, fluttering to the ceiling.

“Donne-moi tes mains.”

Give me your hands. The order whispered through the golden light, quintessentially him. His raspy, melodic voice had a power over me he wasn’t aware of. I instantly locked my wrists together, jutting them toward him.

Q didn’t say a word as he accepted my gift, wrapping soft, black fabric around me. The silk looked like morbid blood, as if I’d slashed my wrists in a fit of insanity.

The moment he’d restrained me, Q tugged the cord, making me stretch even further across the table, securing it somehow. Once tied, he strolled back toward me, setting my heart and body dissolving under his intense stare.

My back was icy cold while my front was toasty warm. The two sensations, coupled with my lack of mobility, made my lungs suck in air as if oxygen was about to go extinct. The closer Q came, the more lightheaded and woozy I was.

I flinched as he cupped my ass.

“What are you going to do?” I didn’t bother testing the binds. I knew Q—he had a way with ropes—there would be no chance of escape.

“Sometimes, the only way to make your dreams come true is to shatter them,” he said, circling me like a predator. “Sometimes, the only way to make your nightmares disappear is by facing them.”

Author Interview

Hi Pepper,

Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for another interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your series, Monsters in the Dark, your new book, Twisted Together, and some “getting to know you” questions.

Thanks so much for having me and being such an awesome pimper, promoter. I’m so grateful!

So first off, your newest book is part of your series, Monsters in the Dark. Let's talk about the series as a whole....

In your own words, what is the Monsters in the Dark series about?

Monsters in the Dark is ultimately finding love—but the right kind of love—the love that you secretly grave but push down deep inside. The love that will blur lines of good and wrong and show just how different we all are. Tess and Q are very intense and it isn’t for everyone, but ultimately it’s just them giving into their desires.

What inspired the series?

Not one thing inspired. Tess was the first character that started talking and Q was silent and brooding in my mind. It wasn’t until the end of Tears of Tess that he started talking and I knew I had to continue on with his story.

What are some of the elements of the world you created?

Um, well birds have a huge significance to Q and play heavily in the book. There is also BDSM, violence, trafficking, and intense love scenes. I believe that their world is unique and my wish is for a reader to lose themselves completely into their world—even if it isn’t quite what they’d want for themselves.

I know Monsters in the Dark is a dark world but If you had to pick one thing, what is your favorite thing about the world you’ve created?

Probably Q’s love for Tess. It caught me by surprise as I thought he was incapable of loving at the beginning but he has the biggest heart of all my characters. He’s dangerous and flawed but really he does everything he does for the right reasons.

Can you tell us a bit about the newest book in the series, Twisted Together?

Sure, it’s about them overcoming their issues to find happiness. After everything they went through in Quintessentially Q they have a lot of healing and dealing with issues before they can tie the knot. It’s a long book at 175,000 words but it’s needed to give them the HEA they deserve.

How did you come up with the title of your newest book in the series and can you tell us its significance?

Indebted was a logical choice for the subject matter. Nila Weaver is descended from a family who owe a debt to the Hawks. Jethro is the first born son and inherits Nila. Their relationship begins with a series of debts that must be paid.

Is Twisted Together the last book in the Monsters in the Dark series or will we see more books?

No, it’s the end for Tess and Q. I’ll do a novella on them in the future, but for now their journey is complete. Very sad to say goodbye

What genre would you say Twisted Together is and what sets your book apart for fans of the genre?

Twisted Together (along with all the Monsters series) is Dark Romance. I believe that it bridges the gap of brutal violence with a love story that makes you feel. (at least I hope! Lol)

What was your favorite scene to write in Twisted Together?

My favourite scene to write was the Truth or Dare. And I won’t say anymore than that.

What was the hardest scene to write for Twisted Together?

I can’t really say as it’s a huge spoiler. It’s to do with Q though and the readers will know when they get there.

What is your favorite line or quote from Twisted Together?

She was sent to make me sin.

What 5 fun facts do fans not know about the series?

Oh, hard question seeing as they’ve been around for a while now.

1. The three books together span over 350,000 words.

2. I wrote each book in less than 8 weeks each

3. I’m thinking of getting a Q tattoo to honour my love of these characters

4. Tears of Tess made my ultimate dreams come true by allowing me to write full time.

5. I think that’s about it. x

What's next for you?

Indebted and a few secret projects which I can’t announce just yet. But I will be able to soon!!
