Review : Wrecked (Wrecked #1) by Priscilla West

Book Blurb

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Lorrie is returning to college after she lost her mother and father. Her mother was murdered by her step-father and the murder was sensationalized in the media. Lorrie had to live through the trial. Then after she got through looking at her mom’s killer daily, he was found guilty and sent to prison. Unfortunately her father couldn’t handle what had happened and committed suicide after the trial was over.

Lorrie is trying to get back on track and get her life back. Of course when she gets back to school, the first thing she does is slip and fall off the bridge landing in the icy river below. She is saved by the most gorgeous guy she has seen in a long time. Just her luck. She flees hoping to never see him again.

Turns out she sees him in the most surprising place. They decide to enter into a “friends only” relationship. Lorrie isn’t ready for anything else. She is barely holding herself together. She fights her feelings hard. She thinks the last thing she needs is a relationship. However, Hunter proves to be too tempting and they both give in. Things are going so well then Lorrie gets a letter that tears everything apart.

The storyline was a good idea. I liked how tortured they both were and they seemed better together. There were some parts of the story where Lorrie annoyed me. I didn’t like how she handled some situations. She was fighting demons but there were times in the story that I found inconsistencies with Lorrie’s behavior that left me a little confused as to why she did what she did.

The sexcapade between Lorrie and Hunter got old after awhile. It was almost too much. I got tired of reading about it. I wanted to see more of their relationship. The ending didn’t really surprise me. Hunter’s secret, however, did surprise me. I really didn’t see that coming. I did like the story enough to purchase part two. I will definitely share my opinion. I give this first part a 4 out of 5.
