Review : Tasagalt - Cross of the South (Arash #3) by Elke Schuster

Book Blurb

He is evil and cruel, killing humans as well as immortal Arash in cold blood, yet an invisible bond seems to link Livia to Eamon.

She seems to have it all, but the search for her mother Rebecca sets disastrous events in motion. Suddenly it’s Livia who guards dark secrets, who hides the truth from her friends. Hurt to the core by Cassius’ infatuation for another girl, which causes him to turn even against his closest friends, she alienates herself from her Arash family and becomes an outsider once again. Will she inevitably lose everything – her love, her family, her life – by defying all Arash laws? Or will her courage and impulsiveness open up unimaginable worlds before her?

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Livia and her family are trying to recover from the calling of Raytara and Fergus’ punishment. Livia is happy and things are back to normal with Cassius. They seem to be happy overall, except the information about her mother. Everyone is ready to go find her but Livia is hesitant. She knows she should be all over it, but she isn’t. She is scared of what will happen when they find her.

Livia is right to worry. Everything changes when she introduces Cassius to Rose. Something comes over him as his attention centers on Rose. He no longer seems interested in Livia. Unable to change anything, Livia leaves him behind to search for Eamon and her mother, Rebecca.

Sohie helps in the search. Livia couldn’t bring herself to erase her memories. However, Sophie proves valuable as they deal with Eamon’s antics and as he threatens to kill everyone.

Things continue to fall apart for Livia as her mother’s welcome is anything but warm and Rose continues to turn everyone against her. She also discovers something new about herself. She is terrified about this new development and refuses to reveal it to her family. Eamon is the only one who knows of her new mark. In fact, the one who claimed to kill her is now the only one she can turn to for help.

This is the third book in the Arash Series. I have read all three and love the series. I was surprised at the direction this book took. Livia and Cassius just made things right between them and then Rose interferes. Rose, in the previous book, was a good friend of Livia’s. So I was shocked at what she did.

I instantly felt sorry for Livia as everything fell apart. The author makes you want to rally around her. In the end I feel sorry for Cassius. The fault wasn’t his yet he lost everything.

The story kept me riveted and I couldn’t put it down. In fact, I read it in one day. The author presented twists and turns that were unexpected and kept me reading to see what would happen next. She threw so many changes into the storyline of the series that I can’t wait to read what happens next. I give this new book and great addition to the series a 4 out of 5.
