Review : Matter of Choice by R.M. Alexander

Book Blurb

Some promises can’t be kept.

Shannon Winters’ picture perfect marriage is in shambles after a car accident left her husband an amnesiac. The commitment to vows he doesn’t remember making keeps her fighting while covering up the parade of other women and a spectacle of bad behavior. Her career as owner and manager at a successful boutique hotel alongside the Hudson River keeps is her refuge, but, at thirty-seven years old, what she craves is the bond to be repaired.

Even twenty years after high school, Triston Keyes continues to be haunted by the memories of the girl he’d lost, the only woman he’s ever loved. When he meets Shannon during a vacation, he finally has the chance to apologize. It’s the only hope he has if he ever wants to fall in love with anyone else.

Sparks rekindle between them, and Shannon struggles to find a reason to stay true to a broken marriage which is quickly crumbling as she gravitates towards the forgotten love.

Until her husband pleas for her to come back.

But when the depth of betrayal is revealed, Shannon must choose her vows-and her beloved hotel-or to remain true to her heart; while Triston must fight to keep the past from catching up to his future.

Both know nothing is a matter of luck, but a matter of choice ….

Toot's Review by Stephanie Silva

When you first love betrays you so bad that you heart shatters in a thousand pieces, is there hope for forgiveness and maybe something more?

When “in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health” bound you to someone that is breaking you slowly, is there hope for escape?

Do you believe in second chances?

I do.

In Matter of Choice R.M. tells us a story about heart-crushing betrayal, loyalty, deceive, love and second chances. We get the chance to meet Shannon Winters, Shy, a kind, strong and caring woman that is too consumed by her work as a manager in her hotel. After her husband suffers an accident that leaves him with amnesia, she suffers his affairs, bad treatment, humiliations and the pain of knowing she is just a face more in his eyes. Work is her only escape but…is there hope for more? Here is when Triston Keyes, former boyfriend and heart breaking first love enters the picture.

Triston has never been able to forget Shy and takes his chance to romance her again. He knows she deserves more than him and her good for nothing husband but he will do anything and everything in his hands to make her see how sorry he is for his mistake and how he will spend the rest of his life making it up to her.
People say that where there was fire, ashes remain.  What will Shy do when the offenses of her husband become worse and the charming and tender attitude of her first love are melting her heart little by little? She spoke her vows and there is no way she will break them even if that means breaking her own heart but there are secrets she doesn’t know that might change everything.

Will she discover them before she make the worse mistake of her life?

5 stars!
