Book Blurb

In her Loveswept debut, Sidney Halston turns up the heat as a sexy cage fighter shows a former bookworm how delicious a few rounds between the sheets can be.

For Chrissy Martin, returning to her Florida hometown always seems to bring bad luck. The day starts with a breakup text, followed by a jailhouse phone call from her troublemaker brother. Now a routine traffic stop has ended with her accidentally punching an officer . . . in adelicate place. Then Chrissy realizes that the hot cop on the receiving end of her right hook is none other than the man from her teenage fantasies.

Jack Daniels knows how to take a hit. After all, when he’s not chasing reckless drivers, he’s kicking ass in a mixed martial arts ring. So what takes his breath away isn’t the low blow, but the woman who dealt it: a gorgeous knockout with legs Jack wouldn’t mind being pinned under—who just so happens to be his best friend’s nerdy little sister, all grown up. Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Chrissy is so “thrilled” to be returning to her hometown to bail her brother out of jail. She has been gone for eleven years and with the luck she has been having lately, this trip is probably a mistake. After waiting hours on a flat tire she is tempting fate while thinking if things could get worse. Of course they can. Her welcome wagon into town comes in the form of Policeman Jack Daniels, her brother’s best friend. She has known him since she was three. She even had a crush on him. He was, in fact, one of the reasons she left town in the first place. She is not happy and Jack gets the brunt of her ire.

Jack is surprised when he pulls Chrissy over. She has changed so much since the last time he saw her. She has him drooling and having dirty thoughts. He decides to help her get to her brother’s house and get Slader out of jail.

Chrissy is nervous and angry about seeing her brother. She still harbors the guilt and shame about her father’s death. She really just wants to get him out and go back to Miami to start the next phase of her life.

Of course her intentions and plans are instantly changed when her brother fights in an illegal cage fight. She is livid after the damage he receives as a result. It turns out both Jack and Slader still cage fight. She gets pulled into the fighting world while trying to protect her brother from killing himself. Jack tries to help her but is more determined to protect her.

This book was hot hot hot! I loved Jack’s character. He was tough and sexy. The author made him a cop with only a couple of cage fights a year. He was loyal with a great sense of right and wrong. He also had an intense drive to protect people. He was definitely a melt-worthy character.

Chrissy was a realistic type of character herself. Even the fear she had didn’t weaken her too much like it can for other characters. She was a strong female who could hold her own among tough men. She gave the story balance.

I would like to see more about these characters in future books by this author. I give it a 4 out of 5.
