Spotlight, Teasers, Review & Giveaway : Scare Crow (Crow's Row #2) by Julie Hockley (NA)

Nineteen-year-old Emily Sheppard is losing her sanity.

Ever since her mob king boyfriend, Cameron Hillard, abandoned her for her own good, Emmy has been attempting to move on with her charmed college student life as if nothing happened. Now rejected from the underworld and left grieving over Cameron’s alleged death.

Emmy realizes she belongs nowhere. Worse yet, she is now keeping a dangerous secret.

After just a short time with Emily, Cameron has lost control over his world. As he miserably attempts to return to what is left of his life and unravel the mess he has made of the underworld, Emily’s hate turns to desperation. She needs to kill the kingpins responsible for Cameron’s death before they come looking for her. As Cameron secretly observes Emily, he has no idea of the danger he has placed her in—or that it may already be too late for him to save her.

Scare Crow is a tale of revenge, terror, and love as Emmy and Cameron embark on separate journeys to face enemies, correct past mistakes, and find their way to their destinies.

Toot's Review by Stephanie Silva

When you lose the person you have always lived for, do you die?
Do your lungs just stop taking in air?
Does the blood stop flowing to your brain?
Do you turn to dust and disappear as though you never were?

No, the truth is that what happens is much worse than that. When you lose your soul mate you lose yourself as well. Your smile erases itself from this world, memories play tricks on your mind and without noticing they crush your heart and burn you from the inside and silence embraces you and whispers in your ear how things aren’t what they used to be. When you lose the person you have always lived for your heart dies as well but…your punishment is much worse than that.
Dying is such an easy way out and the world isn’t kind enough to give you that.
Living each day remembering the one you love and lost, cursing anything and everything every time you take a breath and tormenting yourself with what could have been is a fate much worse than the devil’s kiss and hell’s embrace.
If you like heartwarming stories with a spark of sorrow but beautiful happy endings…well this isn’t for your. This is a roller-coaster of emotions in which you will cry, scream and probably would want to get inside the book to hugs some characters and slap much more of them. This is a story about cruelty, crime, the pain of believing your loved one death and the torture of losing your one and only to protect her from your world but most of all…from yourself.

This is Emily's and Cameron’s story

After loving so much and losing so suddenly Emily is heartbroken but decides that no matter what it takes she will uncover the truth that surrounds her brothers past and the involvement of Cameron. New partners in crime arrive and she will face many obstacles but she needs it in order to move on. Her only comfort is as well her worst torture: the memories of Cameron tenderness and the feeling it evoked in her.

Love in the past, the present, and the always.

but…how can it be her always without her one and only?

Cameron isn’t much better than her. In fact, his torment is much worse. The pain of knowing your loved one is suffering because of you even though you did it to protect her is unbearable. Knowing you would never get the chance to kiss her lips, embrace her tightly or tell her what she means to you is worse that hell itself but it has to be done…She can’t be a part of this world, her brother wouldn’t like it and he doesn’t either. Crime, violence, torture and sins much that’s shouldn’t be named or known but her innocent mouth can’t be part of her life but…it doesn’t change the fact that it hurts to walk away.
Would these two see each other again? Would Emily forgive his deceit? Is there hope for a happy ending?
Well I cant say this book would answer all these questions, in fact, it has a bit of a heartbreaking yet slightly hopeful cliffhanger so we should wait and see what the future might bring.

A former germaphobe and clean-freak turned mother of two, Julie collects enough tears and snot in a month to recreate Slimer Monster from Ghostbusters. Other than playing devoted wife and mama, Julie is the funniest person in the room (according to the 3 year-old and 2 year-old in said room) and can build the most awesome Lego rocket ship you’ve ever set your eyes on (according to her). Oh, and she has a full time career and has also written a bestselling novel. Superhero, or just downright insane?
