Author: Callie Hutton
EBook: 285 pages
Release Date: March 10, 2014
ISBN: 978-1622664641
London 1814...
Drake, Duke of Manchester is searching the Marriage Mart for a perfect bride. He wants a woman who is poised, sophisticated, and worthy of the title Duchess. But most of all, he wants a woman who does not want the useless emotion of love.
Socially awkward Miss Penelope Clayton isn't meant for marriage. A serious botanist, she has no desire to wed, so being forced by her guardian to participate in the Season to find a husband is torture. She'll never fit in with the ton, especially if they discover she's been pretending to be a man within the scientific community.
As Drake's family makes over Penelope, turning her from naive bluestocking to enchanting debutante, he is put upon to introduce her to society and eligible bachelors. Despite dance lessons and new gowns, Penelope is the opposite of poised and sophisticated as she stumbles from one mishap to the next. Why then, does he find it so hard to resist her?

Five things my fans don’t know about me:
1. I’ve been married to the same man for 37 years. Or at least I think it’s the same man. He looks a lot older than the one I married. Hmm.
2. My siblings and I, our spouses, and our children and grandchildren, represent twelve different nationalities, and every skin color from deep brown to pale white. And the five year old deep brown and pale white cousins are BFFs.
3. I was a history major in college, which is where my love of history started, and eventually led me to writing historical romance.
4. If I could have one wish, I would want to travel back in time. Probably to the late 1800s.
5. I am a Downton Abbey addict.
Five things my fans don’t know about my book:
1. Penelope is based on a character Elaine May played in a 1971 movie with Walter Matthau called A New Leaf. Similar character, different storyline.
2. Readers will find Drake very different in The Duke’s Quandary from when he appeared in The Elusive Wife.
3. The scene with the mouse was a very last minute addition to the book.
4. Every sister in Drake’s family will have their own story.
5. Penelope had three different names before I settled on that one. None of the others seemed to fit.

ReplyDeleteGive myself a high five. I PRE-GUESSED the answer to Callie's fav TV show. Although I believe that's early 1900, so it's a few years from both of ours preferred era of Late 1800's. I prefer the last decade AFTER Jack the Ripper is quietly put away. (Yes, I believe I know who the real Jack the Ripper was.) It's in a story of mine, so I'll say no more until it's published. Callie, are you my long lost twin?
