“Emma, I don’t think she really cares what color of blue you pick.” Karla tried to keep the bite from her words, but her OCD friend was getting on her last nerve. It had been like this for an hour. One frickin’ hour of them staring at decorations. All for a bridal shower for their friend Jordan. Aric, hunky leader of the Sexy Four, finally popped the question, and she’d said yes. Not that it came as a surprise to anyone. The way poor Jordan went beet red whenever they spoke of Aric was a major indicator she had more than the hots for Ellie’s oldest brother. But now they were in a scramble to do things in a matter of days. The couple had decided they’d marry ASAP, which played havoc on Emma’s planning tendencies. Her very annoying bossy tendencies. And it meant Karla was going to have to plan the bridal shower with Nicole, or she’d end up stabbing one of her closest friends with the pretty pen she had in her hand.
“No, it has to be perfect.” Emma frowned while tracing the lines of the lace overlay she wanted to use on the reception tables.
That’s it. She couldn’t do this. There was too much other shit on her mind. Mainly, on the frustrating Nathan Wolfe. Stupid man. And why was she letting the fact that he wasn’t around annoy her? Just because they had sex—hold it. They hadn’t had sex. They’d had toe-curling, skin-biting orgasms. And now that she thought about it, her body heated with memories.
Fucking Spot.
Almost three weeks since the day of the scenting ceremony, and she’d seen him only one time at a barbecue his parents held for Jordan and Aric. And her mind and heart could do nothing but miss him. Their promise to see each other had been thwarted by multiple issues concerning Jordan and then Ellie. Then Nate had ended up leaving to help Caleb and “tomorrow” had turned into “someday." Not that she could ever be angry with her friends. It wasn’t their fault all kinds of crap had taken place. She loved them and was happy things had finally calmed a bit. But it saddened her that what had been something she’d looked forward to had disintegrated before it started.
“Okay, Emma. This is what’s going to happen,” Karla turned toward the drill sergeant with a soothing smile, “you’re going to go off and take care of all those wedding details you need to and leave this to me and Nic. We’ll handle all of it. Alone.” She tugged the fabric out of Emma’s hands with force, all the while clenching her back teeth. Emma’s grip didn’t budge. Karla tugged again and became woozy with the quick moment. The room spun for a nanosecond before righting itself. Another tug and Emma released the material. Karla wasn’t a violent person, normally, but Emma could drive a saint to murder.
Emma’s brows shot up, and her pretty hazel eyes went wide. “Are you sure? I thought you didn’t like having to decide on this kind of stuff.”
She took a breath and held it before slowly letting it out. She really needed to calm down. And stop thinking about Nathan. “No, honey. You don’t like giving me a chance to make any decisions. But as of right now, I’m releasing you from this task. I’ll handle it.”

Thank you so much for sitting down with Toot's for an interview. If you don't mind, I have some questions for you about your series Sassy Mates, your new book, A Mate's Bite, and your process for our budding authors as well as fans.
So first off, Your newest book is part of your series, Sassy Mates. Let's talk about the series as a whole....
In your own words, what is the Sassy Mates series about?
Think of fun fearless females. Real women. That have no problem speaking their mind but are sort of hesitant when it comes to the men who own their hearts. They’re fighter with deep sense of family and friendship. These women are bound together by friendship but also by things they have in common like family history or issues while they grew up. They love to laugh and have fun but are always there for each other. And when they commit it’s one hundred percent.
How did you come up with the idea, title of the series and of the current book, A Mate's Bite?
Well, Jordan (MC for Scent of a Mate Book 1) just rushed into my head one day and wouldn’t go. It was so fun writing her story based around the scenting ceremony they weren’t supposed to be watching. All the things that happen after and how she gets her happily ever after.
For A Mate’s Bite I kept it with the mating ritual and like Scent of a Mate decided to use that for my title.
Can you tell us a bit about the newest book in the series, A Mate's Bite?
Sure. This book is about Karla and Nate. We see them in book one but if you didn’t read it you get some back story. They’re a great couple. Karla doesn’t have any good memories of growing up and depending on men. Nate is set on her being his. What follows is fun, drama, action and some very sizzling scenes where Nate uses his skills to convince her of his love.
How does the new book, A Mate's Bite, fit into the series?
Karla is one of my Sassy heroines and Nate is one of the Sexy four. Their story (much like all the others) commences with the scenting ceremony but we see it from their perspective. I think five is my hope but there’s a short or two nagging me so we’ll see. It won’t be the never-ending series, but it is fun to write these.

Have always loved to write and read. I didn’t have a tv in my room til my sister and I had to share bedrooms. But before that I was happy without one.
What inspires you to put the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard?

It starts out with a tiny scene and grows until I can’t get rid of the idea. And it plays like a movie and I have to write it.

Quiet. Quiet. Quiet. I need quiet so I can concentrate.

Hybrid of both. I let the story roll in my head for a while before I do a loose outline and start crackin’

I have a contemporary name April Angel I write as. She is all contemp and Milly is all paranormal.

I’m a pretty open book but let’s see
Me: I’m a foodie( LOVE FOOD). I take my hubs to get pedicures with me. I have small hands. My hair looks like a brillo pad if I don’t get it done often. And I’d love to have another baby but my body isnt’ cooperating.
Book: I won’t spoil it for you. But let’s just say this one almost didn’t make it to readers because I was so stressed with the things I had going on. I almost scratched it.
