Book Blurb

Fight for your dreams. Fight for your life. Fight for love.

Nerdy girl Autumn Blakewood is the prime example of a goody two-shoes. She studies every night, is never late for class, and always follows the rules. She has never felt the need to step out of her comfort zone. That is, until she meets Hunter.

Hunter Bane is a cocky, confident bad-boy, who's nothing but trouble. He’s a dangerous distraction to everyone around him. Sexy and strong, Hunter enjoys the swooning effect he has on women. Especially those who aren't used to attention, like Autumn.

Autumn finds it hard not to give into Hunter’s advances, even though it all seems like a game to him. Trying to understand him is impossible, because he shrouds himself in mystery.
What she doesn't know is that Hunter has more baggage than anyone should have to carry. When she discovers he's in an illegal frat club to save the one person that matters to him, Autumn realizes this could mean the end of her undeniable connection to him. Even their lives are at risk.
But it's too late to turn back now ...

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Autumn Blakewood has left her miserable high school life behind and is entering her first year in college. She hated being treated awfully because she was a nerd. She had two best friends, Brody who was older and went off to college, and Evie who will be her college roommate. Autumn is excited to be at school rooming with Evie and reconnecting with Brody. Nothing could be better. Of course her first day on campus there is an incident with a leaf blower, leaves in her hair and a cute boy. She is mortified and isn’t sure if she can do this.

That cute boy is Hunter Bane and he lives just down the hall. He is known as the campus bad boy. He is drawn to her and teases her. He sits next to her in class knowing he makes her uncomfortable. He makes her want to run the other way and excited at the same time. She finds him fascinating and wants to know more. In fact she can’t stop thinking about him.

One night as she is leaving work she is attacked by a group of guys who were in the restaurant where she works. Hunter comes to her rescue and they get away. She patches him up in the dorm bathroom and he comforts her as she breaks down. Autumn knows he is into some bad things on campus. She knows he is dangerous and she is trying to understand. However there are so many secrets but her feelings for him grow anyway. They start spending more time together and her life begins to change. It is no longer the studious type she has been living. Her life now includes danger, Hunter and some excitement that she didn’t know she was missing. She also learns that those she has trusted don’t have her best interest at heart. In fact Hunter has to step in and save her from them and herself. As things start coming to the surface, Autumn can’t believe what is happening around her.

This book was fascinating. The drug ring and fight club run by a fraternity was a unique idea. It was such an elaborate scheme that the reader knew that it was just a front. It was a scary idea for a co-ed to find herself thrown right in the middle and the reader can ask themselves what would they do as the story unfolds. Autumn had to find her strength and her loyalty as the story moved. Her character really evolved and came into her own.

I also liked how Hunter was really into Autumn. He seemed to enjoy her innocent ways and her understanding. He became very protective of her which was sweet. The surprises that the author revealed at the end were a bit disturbing. You think you know the people in your life. I give this book a 4 out of 5.
