Book Blurb
He comes from a realm where light and dark have fought for millennia. He is of a race known to humans only in myths and legends. The darkness that lives inside him is a part of both who and what he is and it makes him the most gifted spy and assassin in the history of his time. His life is not his own; he lives in the service of the Dark Elf King. He slays who he must, has mercy on no one, is relentless in his hunt, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. He is Triktapic, assassin, spy, most feared of the Dark Elves.
Now, in the midst of his King’s complicated plans to expand the Dark Elves’ holdings into the mortal realm, for the first time, Trik finds his loyalties divided. For no Elf, Dark or Light, can turn away from their Chosen.
Unbeknownst to the mortal realm, the battle between Light and Dark is being brought to their doorstep. The only one who can keep it at bay holds darkness in his heart like a lover, and the one who can sway that heart must decide if she can look beyond his black past, beyond his evil nature and see the man he is destined to be.
The question must be asked, does love really cover a multitude of sins? Can true love actually conquer all or will his darkness consume those around him until all that stands is an assassin with the blood of the mortal realm on his hands?
Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Cassie is just helping her dad with filing at his office while his assistant is gone. While shredding papers, she hears voices and goes looking for the men she hears. They are next door and she is shocked at their appearances. They have different colored hair and pointed ears. She tries to hide as she watches the group but one with dark blue hair spots her. They give chase as she runs to hide. She ducks in o a nearby room, but she isn’t alone.
Trik is the Dark King’s assassin and is feared by all. His king has sent him to spy on the Light King to see what he is up to and what he knows of the Dark King’s plans. Trik is spying on the King and was listening on the same conversation that Cassie watched. He is shocked when she runs in the room and even more so when she can see his true self. He is hit with a suspicion that she is his chosen. He can’t believe it. She is human and young. He seeks out the advisor of the Dark King for advice. It turns out that having a human as a chosen is very possible, just rare.
Trik now refuses to give Cassie up even though he doesn’t deserve her. He doesn’t know if she will accept him with what he is. She is so pure and full of light. He is full of darkness and evil.
Cassie is shocked when Trik comes to her claiming her as his chosen. However she feels the truth in her soul. Trik is determined to keep her safe, he has a lot of enemies who will try to get to him through her. Yet Cassie is determined to do the ultimate thing, save Trik from himself. She knows there is light still in him. She hopes she can get him to see it before it is too late.
I loved this book for the love story between Trik and Cassie. His dedication to Cassie was completely sigh worthy. It’s a shame that Trik’s world gets into the way. I felt sorry for Cassie, there was no way she could fight by herself. I also loved her best friend ELora. The sarcasm flowed freely which made it a fun read. I can’t wait for book two, Rapture. I give it a 4 out of 5.
