Interview

Hi ladies of Toot's Book Reviews!!!
I thought it would be fun for our followers to get to know you all a bit better? I did a review for the blog for our 1 year blogiversary and boy was it difficult but I learned a lot. I thought for a special holiday pressie, I'd interview my co-reviewers, so people get to know you each individually better. *I know, I'll get a lump of coal this Xmas!*
So here we go Melissa!!!
First, for people who may not know you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Let's see, I'm a happily married mommy of 2 kids, 6 & 13. I've lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm always complaining about wanting to move but probably never will. I have always loved reading. Reading has been my escape from reality.
How long have you been with Toot's Book Reviews?
I've been with Toot's for almost 4 months.
What's your role with the blog?
Well, I'm supposed to be a reviewer, but promoter/pimp I think is more accurate. But, I'm promising myself and Toot's that I am going to start reviewing more.
How did you become a blogger/reviewer?
I became a blogger/reviewer because I was asked if I wanted to join and I thought sure, why not. Carey and I seemed to get along great.
What is your favorite part of being a blogger/reviewer?
My favorite part of it is the reading and introducing people to the blog.
What's your least favorite part?
Hhhmmmm..... my least favorite part is the insecurity I feel about writing a review.
How long have you been blogging/reviewing?
I've always tried leaving reviews after I've read amazing books, but more actively the last 4 months.
Can you tell us about one of your most memorable moments of being a blogger/reviewer?
Carey, Lisa & I went to a blogger breakfast recently. We sat next to Lacey Weatherford & Belinda Boring, when we introduced ourselves to them, Belinda Squueeeed, she recognized my name. It was neat to me, that an author recognized my name.
Besides the blog, what other things do you do to show your love of reading (i.e Street Teams, Book Events, Book Groups, other blogs)?
I'm on several Street teams for indie authors. I'm always going to book signings and I'm admin on my friend Wade's Facebook page, who is also a self published author.
Has being a reviewer/blogger helped you personally or professionally in anyway?
Yes, it has helped me in both ways. Normally, I'm pretty quiet and reserved. But being around and talking with other people about books that we love has really brought me out of my shell. I also was recently asked to apply to be an assistant for an author.
Did you do research into reviewing/blogging or did you jump right in?
I jumped right in!
Any suggestions for would-be bloggers/reviewers?
Just, go for it.
Personal......
If your blog was Ice Cream, what flavor would it be?
Mint chocolate chip
Where do you see your blog in 3 years?
Taking over the world! Bwahaha!!!!
What is your fondest memory involving books?
Having my son start reading Harry Potter to his little sister
What do you do to unwind and relax?
Read!
If you enter book giveaways, what's the best prize you've personally won?
