Stella Leon's bartending gig was going fine until gorgeous ex-Marine Beau Junger decked her mob-connected boss, spirited her out of the city, and claimed that Stella's half-sister—the one with the perfect life—sent him. Now Stella has no choice but to go along for the ride . . . and seduce
Beau's military-issue socks off . . .
The Marine Corps was Beau's escape from his old man's legacy of naval heroism and serial philandering, but no amount of training could prepare him for the day he looked in the mirror and saw his father staring back. Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Stella is just living her life and working as a bartender, when this mysterious G.I. Joe enters the bar and changes her life. Beau is there to give Stella a message from her step-sister who wants to meet her. Once he delivers the message, he is moving on to other business. Besides this is just a favor to a friend of his brother.
Unfortunately nothing goes as planned. He has to save her twice and then ends of taking her with him on his next trip. He will drop her off at her sister’s house on his way through. He is ‘thrilled’ to have her as a traveling buddy.
Things get a bit interesting when they stop and stay at his mother’s house. He breaks down and kisses her. Just wanting to forget the whole incident, he takes her to Louisiana with him before they head to Texas. Beau has put himself on the bench when it comes to women and sex. He wants it to mean something and Stella is too much of a temptation.
He fights hard against the attraction he feels for her. It might be a losing battle.
Their destination is Texas and the house of Stella’s long lost half sister. They find more there than just Sadie, Stella’s sister. Beau finds his twin brother in a troubling state. Then everything just explodes like a flash bang. Stella and Beau don’t know what has hit them.
I really liked this book. I loved Stella as the main character. She was independent and feisty. Of course, I have a soft spot in my heart for small Latinas. I love how she wiggled her way into Beau’s life which shocks him. That was the best to watch him fight his attraction to this annoying, tiny woman. It made me laugh.
I have read many books by this author and love them all. I can’t wait to read Blake’s story.
I give this a 5 out of 5
