Book Blurb

Kenric St. James is out for revenge. Over 300 years ago, an ancient female vampire turned him against his will and killed the woman he loved. He’s spent more than a century building an Enclave of warrior vampires who have sworn to defend humanity against his evil sire and her minions. But when Kenric finds a woman he finally burns to claim as his own again, Kenric knows loving her means giving his sire another target.

Emily Ross just wanted a fresh start. She’s a survivor, coming off the tail end of an abusive relationship, and craves time alone to learn who she is and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she needed was a controlling, alpha male calling all the shots.

Meeting Kenric might just have changed her mind, though. He is wrong for her in all the right ways. But in order to keep her heart from breaking, he first has to keep the hordes of evil vamps from stealing her very breath.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

This is a vampire story that involves the group called the Enclave.  They are a group of vampires that fight to protect humans against DEADs, or Death Euphoric Addicted vampires.  This group of elite vampire fighters is led by Kenric a three hundred year old vampire.  He is battling his sire, Marguerite, who wants him back under her control.  She is creating these DEAD vampires as part of her plan to lure Kenric back into her bed.

While he is fighting a pair, he is injured and left to bleed in the alley of a seedy part of town.  Emily is a nurse on her way to work the night shift at the hospital, when she sees him lying on the sidewalk bleeding and unconscious.  She calls an ambulance and gets him to a hospital to save his life, not knowing what he really was.  Once in the hospital Kenric uses Emily to escape and takes her to the Enclave fortress.  Emily becomes involved in his world when Marguerite learns about her.  Marguerite is determined to get Kenric back and she will destroy anything or anyone to get him.  Emily has to trust Kenric to keep her safe in his world and work together to thwart Marguerite’s plan.  Neither Emily nor Kenric’s life will be the same.  The Enclave won’t be the same either.

This was a good solid vampire story.  If you are a fan of vampire romance stories, this is a good choice.  I liked the budding relationship between Kenric and Emily.  Emily had a lot of fire and showed no fear in an unbelievable situation.  Great characters carry the story and the author leaves the story in such a place where the reader is left wanting more.  I hope she continues with these characters in another book.  I want to see if the Enclave stays intact and what happens with Marguerite.  The war between her and Kenric has just begun.

I would give this a 4 out of 5
