Book Blurb
Three bad things I learned this year:
-People you trust lie, even parents.
-That hot guy, the one who's totally into you, he might not be the one.
-Things are not always how they appear.
Three good things I learned this year:
-Best friends are always there for you, even when they're far away.
-That other hot guy, the one who remembers your birthday, he just might be the one.
-Oh, and things are not always how they appear.
When her best friend moves at the start of senior year, Anna Sanders resolves to keep her head down and follow her plans through graduation. Until Lucy, a beautiful, mysterious girl, and Jack, her gorgeous twin brother, transfer to Anna's school.
The two draw Anna into their rich, extravagant life on the Gulf Coast with their distant, single father. Anna can't resist falling for Jack, even after he pushes her away.
Just when she's finally learning to be strong, Anna uncovers their father's closely guarded secret and is pulled back--this time even closer. His secret could change all their lives.
Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
This is the first book in the YA Dragonfly series. The story finds the main character, Anna,
dreading her senior year after her best friend Gabi has moved away. Anna has a plan for her future, to become a
journalist, and feels she just has to make it through her senior year in
school. She is goal oriented which she
is using to forget her loneliness without Gabi.
However, plans don’t always go the way we think. Anna meets two new people on the beach one
day before school starts. Lucy and Jack
are brother and sister who live on the rich part of town. Anna is drawn to Jack and falls for him when
he starts attending her school. She
becomes confused when she starts getting attention from Jack and her long time
crush Julian. What is a girl to do?
Jack is pressured by his family to enter the family business
and Lucy is supposed to graduate early to go to college. There are plans that both Jack and Lucy will
leave after the semester. Anna is heart
broken if Jack chooses to leave. She
fears she is in love with both Jack and Julian.
Then past family secrets from both boys enter Anna’s world and she is
more confused than ever.
This was a fabulous book.
It was written with a lot of emotional bridges built to the reader. Anna’s feelings were front and center and the
reader knew how she was feeling and why.
I felt sorry for her because I felt her hurt. I love authors who do that, write where I can
relate. You can actually feel her hurt,
anger and frustration with the position she finds herself. In fact, I was just as confused as to which
boy she would choose. I was engrossed
until the end. It was a great read. I will definitely recommend it to my students
as a featured book.

I give it a 4 out of

I've been seeing this book for a while now. Didn't want to buy it at first since it didn't look like my cup of tea but your review persuaded me otherwise. :)
