Not all pleasures are a
sin...
Mina wants to put her seduction by a golden-eyed devil behind
her, but the birth of her son, Jacques, renders that impossible. She tries to
forget the only man who ever roused her passion, but when she notices her son
exhibiting strange behavior—and less-than-human characteristics—she must face
her past and learn to trust, and love, again.
Howling drunk, the one
thing Remy clearly remembers is seducing Mina. A pity he didn’t think to get her
address, especially since he marks her as his mate. When she disappears, he’s
got plenty of time to regret, but he doesn’t get a chance to atone until she
comes back into his life with an unexpected surprise.
Thrust into the
role of father, Remy works to bond with his son while gaining forgiveness. But
will he get the chance to truly make Mina his mate before danger threatens their
fragile happiness?
Toot's Review
First, let me say this.....I really enjoyed this novella,
honestly! No matter what else I say, remember that. It was nice getting back to
some of the more traditional Werewolves. More of the recent PNR stories tend to
try to put a twist on the classic and that's great but sometimes it's nice
sticking with the traditional. The chemistry between the two main characters is
smoldering and there's some great love scenes. But before you run right out and
buy this novella, be warned that the book does deal with some heavy issues,
among them are rape, interracial relationships, bigotry, religion, child
abduction, poverty, teen pregnancy and stupid drunken frat boys. All kidding
aside, the author tackled some heavy issues in a short amount of pages and did
it expertly although I do have a few comments on things that did grate me a little.
First, I've read plenty of books where the couples are of different races,
species and even different worlds but in all of them, the underlying theme is
love conquers all, which is fab and why we read romances. Usually the authors
deal with describing the characters quickly, so you get a mental picture of them
and then the story moves forward, maybe there might be a reference again later
to their looks but usually it's a passing comment. In this story, I cannot
count how many times he talked about her ivory skin or her of his cocoa skin.
It honest got in the way of the story for me for a bit. I was like "ok, I
get that you're different races, move on already!" . The next thing that
got on my nerves a bit was the religion. I understand that she was pure as the
driven snow, figuratively and literally and basically she'd been brainwashed by
her ultra right wing bible thumping bigoted parents but you'd think that after
they booted her as a pregnant teen to the streets, she'd spend some of the last
5 years discovering who she really was and maybe easing up on her ultra right wing
views but alas, 5 years later, she's still just as ignorant as the day they
met. She is all about asking why God did this to her, why God isn't listening
to her, calling the man who knocked her up the Devil and talking about being a
sinner. For me, her ignorance also got in the way of the story. You would think
after living in homeless shelters and on charity, that she would have changed her
life views but alas, no. This is character does NOT radiate super strong, super
smart woman but she does have a great motherly inner strength. She cries at the
drop of a hat and spouts religious fervor but mess with her baby and her claws
come out. Our hero on the other hand is a total caveman or werewolf. He's ruled
by his nether regions and emotions. He screws up at every turn and BTW, we
never do find out what his job is? Anywho, besides all these sticking points,
the novella was a fun read for any PNR fan. Not totally unique but definitely a
fun quick read. I gobbled it up in one night and I highly recommend it!

Hello, my name is Eve. I'm a stay at home mom who works as a webmistress/customer service rep. In between juggling my three kids, hubby, and housework, I write romance--usually with werewolves or aliens lol.
Born in British Columbia, as a military brat, I have lived a little bit everywhere--Quebec, New Brunswick, Labrador, Virginia (USA) and finally, Ontario. My family and I currently live just outside Ottawa.
I love to write, and while I don't always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a HEA.
Thanks so much for coming by and checking me out. If you'd like to know more, read some excerpts or find out what's coming next, then please visit me at www.EveLanglais.com
