Tuesday

Sorry I've been MIA, also I'm trying something new and a quick review on Larissa Ione's Demonica series.

Hey all,
Just wanted to post a quick, hello, I'm alive, sorry I'm MIA but fun stuff is coming!
LOL wow got that all in one sentence *grin*
So here's the low down.....
I've been working like a dog for CES in Las Vegas, NV the past two weeks.
I'm back now and have loads of fun things planned for Toot's.
As you've probably noticed, I've been signing up for cover reveals and blog tours.
I thought it would be fun and change it up a bit, as well as expose you all to more books and giveaways, woot woot!
I think in Feb alone, I have 5 blog tours as well as another author interview for you and of course more giveaways!
With all that being said, I did want to throw out there that if anyone would like to do a guest post (where you've read a book and want me to publish your review) just email me and/or if any authors would like an interview or cover reveal, we can do that too. Even though this blog started as just a place for me to put all my personal opinions on books I read, I'd love input on what people would like to see. I'm game for anything that involves books.
On the review front, I did finish all of Larissa Ione's Demonica series while at CES, so I've put together a quick review below for you as well.
That's all for now!

A quick review on Larissa Ione's Demonica series

I always try not to lump a whole series together into a review, it's just not fair but I needed something to read while at CES. I decided to read Larissa Ione's Demonica series. I read all of her Lords of Deliverance or LOD series first and man let me tell you, you totally need to read the Demonica series first, otherwise if you do as I did and start with the off-shoot of LOD, you'll probably be as lost as I was. I wish someone told me that even though it's an off-shoot, you really should have read the Demonica series first.
I do have to say though, that after going back and reading the Demonica series, I'm probably going to now have to reread the LOD series again, LOL.
So seeing I'm lumping the entire series into a review that makes some sense, let me start with a quick synopsis of the whole series without give away too many spoilers. If you don't want to hear about the series, all my Toot's news was above, so you can stop reading if you wish *grin*.
So on we go!
The premise for the whole series. Demonica, is that there are these Seminus demons (sex demons) whom have healing powers. They're always born males and are meant to go through stages of development until they hit their final stage where they become basically like rutting animals, trying to impregnate anything unless they find a mate (I know typical PNR). This particular family of males once had roughly 45 brothers but through the centuries dies down to 4. The eldest brother, Eidolon, not wanting to loose what "humanity" he had left, decided to put his healing powers to good use and started a demon hospital called "Underworld General" *I know right* Anywho, so this supposedly the first hospital of it's kind for the underworld and it's where all the furred, fangy and frightening go to get fixed up. The main stories in the Demonica series revolve around the hospital, the brothers and their growing families. It's not till the last book, Sin Undone, that the off-shoot to the LOD begins but all the characters in the Demonica series have major or minor roles in the LOD series, so this is where you really need to start with the Demonica to really know what the heck is going on in the LOD series. Whew, did I confuse you too?
So back to the series.....
Pleasure Unbound is the story of Eidolon, who's the eldest of the surviving brothers and the guy who started the hospital. The book itself sets up the world as well as introduces us to his future lady love Tayla.
Desire Unchained is the story of Shade, who's the second eldest and is a Doctor/Paramedic at the hospital and introduces us to his lady love Runa as well as sets up some major events that shape the rest of the stories as well as plot points important to the LOD series.
Passion Unleashed is the story of Wraith, the last of the original brothers who opened the hospital. He also works as a Paramedic and is the bad-boy playboy of the 3 at the hospital. This story also introduces us to his lady love Serena.
Ecstasy Unveiled is the story of Lore, he is not part of the hospital but is a Seminus half-breed demon whom we meet early on in the series. This story introduces us to his lady love Idess.
Sin Undone is the last in the Demonica series before the LOD spin-off. This is the book that will set up the entire LOD series. This story is of Lore's twin Sin, who is the only known surviving female half Seminus demon. As I said, they are only supposed to be male but because of some herb her mother was taking to kill the twins, it actually strengthened the gene that otherwise would have killed Sin off or turned her into a male while still an embryo. This is also about her finding her hero named Con.
With all that being said, overall I found the stories good. They are still your typical PNR but having gone back to the beginning, I found a lot of the LOD books making way more sense. I wish there was a disclaimer or something letting the reader of the LOD books know that these are more a continuation of the original series then a stand alone series. It was only through deciding to go back to the source per se, that I really got a full picture of the whole world that Larissa had built. So the question is, would I recommend these books to a PNR fan, yes but with the disclaimer that they go back to the original first book Pleasure Unbound. They are the classic PNR formula story with HEA's. So if this is what you're looking for, I say go for it!

For the entire Demonica series
4 out of 5 books
