To Hell and Back: A League of Guardians Novella
This novella is part of the League of Guardians series by Juliana Stone. I did receive this as an ARC for review. I, myself, have not previously read any of the books in this series, so I can't give you much history on the series. I can however review the novella for you but first let me say this say this.... after reading this novella, I'm totally going to be gobbling the rest of the series up. I absolutely loved this novella. I found the characters interesting. I loved the heroine, Kira (human) and found her very real and engaging. She also has a spine of steel (no wilting flower without her man, here). I also love our hero, Logan (shapeshifts into a Hell hound, how cool is that!), just as wonderful. Man I wish we all had a Logan! Obviously there's more books in the series and more history between them but in this novella we find Logan and Kira taking a side trip while on route to another location. There's a Halloween festival going on and Kira wants to check it out. They have a great time and decide to spend the night. In the morning Logan goes out for some food and never returns. Kira is then ambushed by all sorts of supernatural creatures trying to do her harm as well. In the meantime, Logan has been taken to Hell, literally and is in for the fight of his life, if he ever wants to make it back to Kira and Kira is on the run without Logan and not knowing whom she can trust.
It was a very quick fun adventure. It had wonderful action, romance and tenderness as well as some truly icky moments.
If you want a quick PNR read, I think you'll really enjoy this novella. Even if you haven't read the series (like me) it was easy to follow. Definitely highly recommend it.
5 out of 5 books!
